Cruising up the lake shore with my son and found the whole club driving through town. Crappy Blackberry pics
Stock Model T's, Hot Rods, Customs, Rat Rods - They were all meant to be driven and enjoyed! There's room in this hobby for everybody. Remember why we are celebrating MEMORIAL Day. All gave some; some gave all. Thanks.
I read about that in the paper. Obama finally called in a bunch of old car guys because they are the only ones smart enough with the fabrication skills to plug that oil leak in the gulf.
The only problem with the hot rodders called in to fix it is: 1) First they will have to build a garage around the leak, correct building environment & a place to hang old thingys on the walls. 2) They only will want to use pre '65 (or is it pre '62 to be traditional?) parts. 3)They will have to wait for one of those parts to pop up on Ebay to Buy It Now. 4)Things might start off slow, starting a new thread with a poll sometimes takes a while to get good feedback. 5)And of course in the end, they must take time and talk about how cool the old part was (made in the USA of course) as they bolt the new one on. This is just my attempt at a little humor for an entirely horrible situation.
Great cars ! But I wouldn't give BP a dime of my money at this time. Thanks for sharing the pics very nice !
First thing I thought too...Why are those Hot Rodders supporting BP? I am ashamed when I see cars in BP Stations. Maybe because I'm in Florida and this Historic Mess is heading into my backyard, but to support these bastards makes me sick.
Won't do any good. Gasoline is a commodity. Exxon buys from Shell, Shell buys from Chevron, Chevron buys from BP-- etc. etc. The gasoline that people don't buy from BP, if they continue to use gasoline, will be sold by other oil companies who will buy from BP when the increased demand from the boycott increases their sales and reduces their own inventories. Now, if you were only buying BP, and stop using gasoline altogether, they'll feel it. However, how many BP customers are gonna do that? Bob
Sadly, this exact same fiasco played out in 1979. Same sequence of failed fixes only in 250 feet of water. Some of the same companies involved [under their old names]. In the end only relief wells stopped the leak. Our Canadian friends require the relief wells to be in place before the main well breaks through. We don't because it is a "waste of time & money" with our great technology. Nothing is more traditional than not learning from your mistakes and then blaming everyone else for the problem.
They're drilling 2 relief wells now, but they won't go online until August. This disaster wasn't caused by lack of technology. The technology for safe deep water drilling is well established. This completely preventable disaster was caused by total disregard for the good housekeeping practices and regulations set forth by the Federal Minerals Management Service, who's employees were bought off with prostitutes and whiskey provided by BP, Transocean, and Haliburton. As it always was, and always will be until those participating in the corruption get some hard prison time. Bob
