yeah im not too sure about this one either. I mean, the car has tons of potential, but i aint too sure about the grille and paint. Its a Beatniks car, im thinkin its this one, seen at mooneyes some 3 or 4 years ago.
Here's one I picked up recently, made (and making) a few changes and repairs and then I'll be drivin' the wheels off of it.
Sorry, but the mild stuff doesn't really doesn't come to mind when sombody wants to discuss '60's Kustoms. What does come to mind is Ed Roth designs, stuff that looks like it came from a Jetsons cartoon! It may be just my personal experiences being a little kid in the pre-'65 years, but when I got to go the the toy store for a car model it was usually something weird! That may have something to do with living in Bell California in that time frame. Ed Roth was a local 'Hero'. Living just outside of LA at that time, we were kind of a test bed for odd promotional gimics, experimental model designs that didn't get national distribution. It was a fun time! But no, mild Kustoms don't fit my childhood memories at all. Dan Stevens dba, Steelsmith
heres my 68',needs more pinstriping, bellflowers and windows need to be etched...im gonna do a full pattern job, when i get back from europe.
GilbertTorres! That is some incredible pinstripe work! Truely some underappreciated modern art. For a stock bodied car the Chevy's not bad either ...! Dan Stevens dba, Steelsmith
Maybe 'cause there weren't alot of models of mild customs.....even though they were way more prevelent in the magazines and on the street than the oddball "hotrod" stuff...
Yor caddy is pretty famous, but ive never seen the bird. Any chance you could upload bigger shots? Thanx!
There were more mild customs on the street than anything else in the 60's. But you're right, they were too subtle for a child to notice...you had to have been at least a teenager!
Ok, I was looking for a thread like this and was going to start one if it didn't already exist. It's been nearly a year since anyone posted, so let's jump start this again. We haven't even touched the surface. I was going to stay away from the show rods, bubble top, etc. cars since there was a dedicated thread to that already. Most of these are what I would call cruisers, real cars that got driven. Here's a few that fit the 60's styling (all stolen from the HAMB )...
