Cruising returns to Van Nuys Blvd

Didn't take many photos, but here are a couple:

 

Sorry these next few are really dark (iPhones are terrible in low light), but this was definitely the high point of the night for me. Gene Winfield showed up driving the Jade Idol II with a film crew in tow that was filming a documentary about him. Imagine my surprise when he walks up to me and says they want to film some shots of him cruising up the Blvd with some other cars around him, and he wants to know if "I would mind" driving in front of his car with a few other cars following him Really made my night

 

that was a nice suprise seeing gene pull up in that car.

Oh NOOOOOOO, just remembered im moving out of van nuys june 1st.

 

I forgot I had taken a few shots. I drove my '65 Cadillac this time around....

 

I think at this point we can belay any fears of the cruise dying out, I even stayed up past my bedtime! Good times!

In all fairness, Reid didn't write the article, and I know he's never said anything like that himself, so if you want to take shots at somebody take shots at the author of the article. The author has clearly taken some liberties with a lot of what's written there, so there's no need to just single out that one comment unless you're just trying to stir up drama

Drove down Van Nuys yesterday and saw the Lamplighter sign covered up with a sign that said "Corky's".

A guy from Corky's was @ Bob's Friday, giving out coupons for cheeseburger/fries for $5 for tomorrow night

back in the old days when George bought the place it was Corkys, now he decided to change the name back again. Same owner same place, and best of all same friendly cruise night people

 

I called today to verify that is it now called "Corky's" and the new sign went up Sunday. The location is still the same. Very confusing, but I am glad it is straightened out now. Reid, sorry I doubted you.
