thank you in advance i just got this intake manifold need help id'n it i know its a flat head but wondering about age history ect..thank you again..jeffrey
It is, indeed, a flathead intake manifold......go here for a Bio of EE..... http://eddie-edmunds.blogspot.com/ CB
no clue, but I have never seen a pic of EDDIE as part of the script. Very cool. There was also a very early 4 that said Edmunds Racing.
I think the "Eddie Edmunds" were the earlier castings, then "Edmunds Custom", then just "Edmunds". Not 100% sure on the order but I think thats correct.
It is long as hell. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but is it for a lincoln flathead v12? For sure it was made to fit flatheads older than 49
Is that the one that was on craigslist? Glad to see a hamber got it. A buddy of mine went down to look at it but the guy was askin too much. What we could figure out is that its probably late forties. Johnny
Kiwifruit is correct. The intakes made in the late 30's & early 40's used the Eddie Edmunds logo & then made changes as noted. The late 30's type had water heated carb bases & that went by the wayside in the 40's.A good find tho.
I would think somewhere between $400-$600, if were mine.I have a water heated version of that intake & would not take less than $800 for it. Good luck.
It looks to be an early Edmunds -- though he was constantly changing his patterns around (he was never really a high-volume manufacturer . . . but very prolific in the range of products he built). It looks to be a version for a boat motor -- notice how the front carb pad it higher than the rear . . . and probably angled a bit (not flat like a normal car manifold). Let me know if I'm correct on the observation!
Cool - that is what you want for a street car! As noted, some of his marine manifolds had the cards at an angle - due to the motor-mount angle on I/O drive boats.
Like the one I use on a '36, same but different. I have a fresh motor and would like to get another someday. This one was ground to match the port job on the block.
Useful thread, I have one 100% the same. Paid UK £200 (about $300 )for it. It's going on my '48 Allard.
I just scored this same intake last weekend as well. Are any of you guys running it and can comment on it's performance?
