I found these at an estate sale and took some pics. wondering what they were? and any body got any idea on how much they might be? or what would you pay for 'em?
By the way, the other thing is an old tire pressure gauge and it says "peerless" on it underneath the eagle.
Cool as hell, that's what they are!! Looks like some plaques that would identify vehicles as belonging to a member of the fire department. Nice score. How come neat stuff like this isn't made or used anymore?

The fire department tags are for subscribers of the local fire protection agency. Many departments charged an annual fee for protection. This was because there was not a local tax for the fire company or the governing entity. If the fire department showed up and no tag was on the house by the front door, they packed up their stuff and left.
I found a whole bunch of more of those things, and a lot of various cool hood ornaments/radiator tops. I'll put pictures up of 'em tommorow and most of them are for sale so make a bid!
