Attached a few pictures of my latest retirement project. This was dragged in from South Dakota. Body goes back on the frame tomorrow. The plan is to have it road ready in a month or two and then try to trade it, even-up, no cash, for another early Ford project. I'll post additional pictures as the car progresses.
not that you asked for opinions ......it looks like a nice project , and A coupes are getting hard to find. i think you should keep it
you do nice work the engine is perrty , you could camp out in my shed and finish my 34 pick up if you get to bored lol good luck with your next project
Body went back on today. Where are your friends when you need them? Will try to get some pictures of the custom gas tank that was built to fill the funny hole that appears when you "z" the frame.
I hope when I retire I can do what you are doing. That car looks great. Perfect nasty attitude and stance. Love it!!!
The trunk area ended up being rather cramped, so I designed a gas tank to fill part of the space that was left and still was able to have enought room for at least a small suitcase or spare. The first pic shows the opening that was left after the frame was "Z"ed leaving the rear cross member well into the trunk area. The second pic is the tank which was baffled and custom fit using 11 gauge. The third pic is the tank installed. The tank also serves as a seal for the trunk area.
Cool pic of yourself cutting into that roof, did a killer job. Looks like retirement aint slowed you down.
A picture of the exhaust system. Headers are home made. They empty into collectors made from Ford torque tubes. The mufflers are Cherry Bombs. The over the axle pipes were being worked on and are not in the picture.
Started on the interior. First picture shows the interior with new wood installed. The second picture shows some of the new panels that I upholstered in back vinyl. I got the new panels bare from LB and modified them to fit the chopped top. Since headroom is at a premium, and also because I like the look of wood, I used more of the black vinyl for the headliner. The unique part is that I installed the vinyl on top of the wood roof bows rather then below them. Gained at least two inches of head room and I really like the look. The headliner can be seen in the third picture. More pictures when the windlace and door panels are installed.
The bare wood looks really good, great idea! I hope I get the oppertunity to do what you do later in life
Now thats a retirement program! Nice work, looks like you are enjoying retirement! Lippy (Semi-retired) in Ks.
