50 fraud.. that is one awesome 40 coupe.. if I didnt already have wheels and tires I'd be looking for a set of those merc wheels and caps.. and I think you've just convinced me to run studebaker taillights cincinnati.. thanks for that photo.. I have a white interior for my coupe as well.. I;m not usually one for green, but man that looks good.
When I first built my '39, I wanted the hoodless look. That's how I remembered them from long ago. But, once I found a louvered hood, that changed and I now have a hood on. That's the only way I would run a hood.
Agreed, it has to do with proportions, and works best for coupes mostly. It's one of the simplest things you can do to make that car look lower.
I sold it since, but i did not run a hood by default. i just couldn't get it to fit right. So i said F*** the hood! But, if i get another i'd like a hood.
A gasser '40 Deluxe. With the hood. That'd be my choice. Just somethin about that sharp hood sittin up high on a straight axle.
sawzall, thanks for the compliment. It's my Dad's '40. I'm not the biggest fan of green either, but this '40 has been green since the 70's so couldn't break the tradition. hot rod mike, that is one slick '39. You have some more picutres, I can't believe this is the first time I've seen it. That wheel and tire combination is what we want to do his. slim.
I have had lot's of people ask me if it's legal to run with out a hood. I tell them thats your broblem.
I agree with you all, I love 40's, cars and pickups! However, I'm getting close to getting my 40 pickup on the road, and I don't think I'll ever get the hood lined up correctly. It's driving me nuts!! So I may have to try leaving it off! Later
a few gassers.. The last one is featured on Bang Shift - very nice http://www.bangshift.com/gallery/Jim-Sartori-s-10-second-1940-Ford-Deluxe-gallery.html
