Auction begins today 4/17/2010 and ends next Sunday night 4/25/2010 9 pm Bid here and pay DrZ since he works with her and is an Alliance member "On Friday afternoon Asia Tuchsen, was side-swiped in her 1959 Biscayne and ended up hitting a large tree at full speed. Her car was not equipped with seat-belts. She was rushed to the UC Davis emergency room where she was treated for facial fractures, lacerations and knocked out teeth as well as bruised ribs and some sprained joints. She is in high spirits, all things considered, but without health insurance she is facing some very large medical bills and will need oral surgery in addition to reconstructive surgery."-DrZ I'm putting these trophy parts up for auction to help out. DrZ is collecting the funds and will inform me where to send it all. I'm paying the postage (if it's in the US) Dr Z is: "Please contact me with questions regarding donations: Rob Zomber Shop: (877) 467-3871 Cell: (310) 463-5965 [email protected]" here is the link to drz's fundraiser sticky http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=464893 The brass cylinder reads: 17th annual GRAND NATIONAL ROADSTER SHOW Feb 12-22, 1965 OAKLAND GRAND NATIONAL AWARD This is all that was left of it. I can trace it back to Oklahoma around 1990 I believe the winning car was a 34 ford 3door panel built by Bob Olson of California. I have 2 old mags I'll throw in featuring the possible winning car here are the pics One of my best friends from school days, (someone who really loves old cars too) bought it on a trip down to Texas we were on... and later owed me ALOT of money over some bad business. He later dropped back onto the face of the earth and faced me about it saying he was at zero% and had nothing else but an apology for taking advantage of a good friend and no way to pay me back but was really sorry and offered me the trophy parts as it was all he had. He had disassembled it on a drunk and lost the rest of it before he sobered up, this is all there is left... I forgave him along time ago so for just an old piece of hotrod junk it has a bit of meaning for patching things up, it should go on that way. I tried selling it for money for myself and have had no luck so maybe it's got some other destiny. It ain't doing anyone any good sitting in my bookcase...

Trophy has been sent. Thanks Bill and everyone else, hope that Purdy lil girl gets fixed up ok. I've been busted up and cut up myself, I hate to see people get hurt like that
I've been in the trophy business for almost 40 years. If there's any parts that the winner needs that I have, I'll send them out gratis. Looks like you'll need a base. I would call around to some high schools and see if they have any old trophies in storage. Nobody makes those old huge walnut bases anymore.
Also, most of the parts shown were made by R.S. Owens & Company, who are still in business (they make the Oscars and Emmys, along with a lot of other presigious awards). A call to them may get some good results. Who knows what they may have still in storage.
Thanks, I'll look at everything when it arrives and then come to a decision as to what I want to do with all of it.
