I cant believe the stuff that keeps showing up here. This movie is the first hot rod movie I ever saw. My dad didnt understand why I liked those hoodlum kids and I tried to make him understand it wasnt the trouble makers. It was the cool cars ! Hollywood allways makes something bad out of something we like.

dunno if any history was found on your actual car but here it is from a little pages book ROD BUILDER & CUSTOMIZER Jan 1959

Look at the back section, the taillights and license lights match, and take a look at the bones, and its a 26/7 with a 28/9 back on it, i think its got to be it.

Now that is an unusual and great looking car! You should definitely resurrect it BUT let the rolloverthetopedge upholstery idea get modernized. That one feature is a booger hanging out the car's beautiful nose.
Enjoy, you're a lucky guy. Another great oldie and goldie found and identified!

Lil' Jewel. Sounds like a winner. The Royal Lilac wouldn't be hard to reproduce. I've seen that color used for a few '59 Cadillacs. The color is still made under a different name. If you could get some decent pics of the striping,I'd say reproduce it via another talented striper. Restore it to the way it was back in the day.

Looks like a modified Dodge grill.or maybe an early Plymouth pickup grill(I'm thinking 1941 or so)

I have been putting off doing anything on this car because I really wanted to know the story. Now that I do, my mind is racing in a thousand directions!

At first I thought the grille might be Hollywood Graham. Kinda sorta close, but no cigar.

So has anyone tried to look up Ray Licea yet. The mag article was 50 years ago, Presuming he was a young man at the time the pics were taken ,there's a good chance he's still above ground.

How cool would that be? To have him involved in the Rod's resurrection!

It appears that Ray may have died September 18, 1997. Which is too bad. I have not had luck with locating Jadeen. It looks like I need a 1939 Chrylser frontend...
