  3. The blue T touring would be the late Wendel Freier. Wendel was a T guru in the 50's. That docile looking touring ran a fire breathing Fronty that would run over 75mph. He had a cut down 23 roadster that ran over 100.

Didn't George run an SOHC in both his blue Mustang and the red Mustang? Then didn't he switch to the 429 semi-hemi when he went to turbocharging? I thought that was the sequence of events in the motors he used, but I'm not entirely certain. Didn't he also run a turbo 4-cylinder in a Pinto after he retired his Mustang?

If the name “Funny Car” originated from altering the wheel base, then THIS has got to be the Funniest of them all.

I thought I was following the “Funny Car” scene pretty good back then, but I never saw this one. I love it. Thanks Royalshifter.

    RoyalShifter:

I have a shot of the Ramchargers Dart that has a rollerskate wheel on the oilpan to stop the scraping of the oilpan from contacting the strip.

When ever I come across it I'll post it. I don't think it was the car that was posted.

Look closley and you can something on the bottom of the oil pan which is the rollerskate wheel.

The Fiat was partnered by one of my neighbors, Pat Mahken. It later became the Pyscho Mustang funnycar. The 33 Willys panel was rare. There was another that surfaced 67-69, bright red and dubbed Von Ryan's Express after the movie. Overland Shell sponsored it. Overland Ave was street not far from San Fernando Raceway.

Never saw the grandstands gone at Lion's, though I knew they went to Pasadena, great shots..

(I think that the Chev twin is Hartzler and Steiner, if so, Gary Gabelich once drove it, though not sure who is driving in these photos.

    Thanks for posting!!

REJECT?!!! That is one of the best shots in the thread in my opinion. Thanks very much for posting this one. This was the HM "house" car out of Charlotte, NC.

Keep posting your "cull" pictures! Like you said there is no such thing as a bad picture from that era.
