This truck was literally on the way to the crusher when my son bought it from the salvage guys for $300.

The salvage guys weigh at my son's work and there are a lot of respectable vehicles get processed into rebar at Border Steel, on occasion, a vehicle comes through that is just too good for the crusher.

Any ideas for this old Dodge? I think he needs to find a pickup bed for starters.

I just saved a 52 Buick 2-door hardtop from the scrap yard, some guy was giving it away on craigslist and loaded it up with junk and said come get it. Lucky for me I beat the scrap guys to it.

The more I look at it the more I like it, you think he would sell it to me for $325?

    heres some inspiration.

  18. That's one good thing about an old truck, if you don't have a decent bed, anybody with basic carpentry skills can build a flat/stake bed. Looks like you've got a good solid straight cab with great patina. You've got a straight ladder type frame so it's not overly difficult to put in nearly any drivetrain you want. The old Dodge flathead 6 is hard to kill, you can find some performance pieces for it if you look around, and it takes kindly to the hot rodder's touch. I'd love to snag a truck about like what you've got to build with my grandson. I'm mainly a Ford guy but I like all old trucks regardless of make.

  19. Good save!

I have the bed sides and front panel, probably the bed floor braces too.

Good job! There are many of those old Dodge beds still attached to the back ends of frames being used as trailers all over the place. Check your local barnyard or neighborhood "junkman"s yard.

  22. cool save - just sold my Dodge panel on the Dallas Craigslist...

  23. Natural grown patina on those doors, I wouldn't touch a thing.

  24. 48'-49' ? if you need parts let me know we have lots of those in one of our local salvage yards!

Nice one! Some of those grille guards go for good money, don't just throw it out or anything.
