While it is a bit similar to a Crestliner wheel, I dont believe it is from any '49-'51 shoebox.

I agree (similar to, but not a Crestliner, and not original to any shoebox). I'd guess it's some kinda later Mercury wheel.

I don't really know where it has been in the past. I got it from a guy in Ohio. Traded my 97 for it. It is a solid car. I haven't found any rust. The interior is in great shape. There are a couple of things that need to be fixed and cleaned up but everything on the interior is there and in great condition. I has a 302 with an automatic and A/C that blows cold. The wiring is a mess, but I can handle that. I haven't found anything that doesn't work on it yet.

Needless to say, I am very happy. I traded off a truck that I have had for over a decade. It was the first vehicle that I could call mine. I had that truck longer than I knew most anyone that didn't have the same last name as me, so it was very hard. But I had to close that chapter and open the next.

    Later,
    Chad

That shoebox looks awesome!!! What kind of plans do you have for it other than fixing the wiring?

Looks like it's time to change your signature line. Welcome to the club.

I have one now. Ugly '51 but it hauls ass with a 302/c4 combo. Damn it's ugly.
Fun to drive, though. Did I mention it's ugly?

Yea i'll definately keep it on the car, i think it actually has a light bulb in the red cone, but need to take it off the car to check.

  25. Interesting, I might have the same dilema Flathead Pete has. My username 49Flatty will not longer apply when I switch over to an overhead.

NOT intended as a flame to others, but it is nice to see another Shoebox not being chopped during its re-birth.
