I would add Kevin Delores to the list. To me he was always the pick of the A/altered racers.

And perhaps Brett Wilson too for his efforts at thunder park.

  3. The Shadwick brothers Al and Bruce for sure, and Wayne Grimmer-many class race cars over past 28 years.....

Theres a lot that could be added, especially from the old Thunderpark days,
Brett "Blip Blip" Wilson (Falcon & funny car)
    Chris Harris (Bucket)
    Dave Chung...Puppy Love & Spunky
Goldsworthy (bounching his coupe....32 roadster heading towards the stars at the night meets)
    The ugly Brothers (Price)
Mike Poole (32 coupe & wildbunch Mustang)
    Steve Keys (Wild Bunch Mercedes)
Robin "Bones" Silk, (Victor,Pop, Chevette & Camaro)
    Roger Murray (Bucket)
    Russ Clarke (VW Bettle)
Mike Nolan ( Now in Aussie)
Euan Marks (T Bucket) use to run with the Widbunch Boys
    Guy Lim
    Gary Taylor
    Even Walk Socks (Dave Green)

The list goes on, all were great racers in there day & some are still doing it...and all great to watch, very hard to stop at just 10.......
PS GB never drag raced...theres a Photo of him in Chizzler taken around 1970 at Wiri, but the rail didn't go or something of that nature, but that was his one & only time behind the wheel of a race car.

Hey Doc its a pity you werent at Meremere last sunday to see the aussies get dicked yet again! But they did have a purdy back up gal! First time that I have seen Euan Marks "T" race.Man that thing was quick.Deadbeat

  12. Deadbeat, wish I'd know you were there. Would've made a point of catching up. We always camp beside Shady n Kay (Mum n Dad!) makes for a great weekend.

  13. Jeez Dale, thats a bit rough on our Aussie neighbour....;) 28pink- I too was at that meeting at Willowbank in the late nineties, saw Chris Tynan run his first six,i think he won best burnout.Half of nz must have gone across the ditch to be at that meeting. Deadbeat- i raced Euan Mark in 88 in the finals at the nats,it got rained out, took three meetings to run that race due to the weather,of course he beat me when we finally got to race, big balls and a real quick car.Good to see it on the track again.

I'm a big boy I can take it.
I do remember Bray going down to you guys, but then I was never a Bray fan.

You know with a little thought, yeah it seems on wheels you guys do pump out some legends, In V8 Supercars as well not just on the quarter mile. Per capita NZ has more motorsport stars than we do?
I think we have to do some catching up......

    Doc.

  15. So Doc. What's the cure? :D

Hey Sharpy, Arn't you an aussie too.:D:p

  17. After travelling to NZ a couple of times, I think I've figured out why that place turns out so many good drivers (although this doesn't really relate to drag racers).

If you fuck up on an NZ road, YOU WILL DIE!!!

Soon sorts the wheat from the chaff. LOL

Been away for a week and just checked the thread. Small but perfectly formed. This is gonna be good. I spoke to a few people last week at the nostalgia's who had a VERY clear idea of who would make up the top 10. I'll pull all the feedback into some kind of shape next week and let you know where it's at - keep your ideas/mindless trans-tasman slagging coming. What I'm also real keen on is getting some of the stories down about the characters that contributed to the the good times, if not necessarily the winning times.

  21. Sounds like you are going to spend a heap of time reading NZHRM from the beginning in '67.
    All the info is there.
