    You haven`t seen the duds-LOL

It is the percentage of keepers I am trying to increase.

Working on settings for night and getting the camera itself set for the sharpest images that I can get.

Steve, curious as to what the hole on the left side of the cockpit is for? Oil tank?

well here goes...we were running for the championship at lawrenceburg speedway in 1975 and had motor problems at bloomington on friday night. paul leffler somehow found out about it and gave my granny (maude smith) a call and insisted to loan us his car for saturday night for calvin gilstrap to drive. the thing was he had already had this (leffler's) car set up to run at salem ind. on sunday for his driver sammy sessions. 1/2 mile pavement to 1/4 mile dirt. he changed everything on the car and back again for sunday. we did win the championship that year. i guess it just makes me scratch my head that a guy like leffler would loan his "house" car to some old woman from cincy.lol. thanks for bringing back memories rich.......i owe ya one.......

Chris, glad I can help with fhe family memories,The sprint car families are great people,we ran a few years with URC and if we had any mechanical issues the racers were there to try to help each other out.just like the great guys on this thread, when I had the poached pictures incident the moral support I got from everyone was great, so I had to remind myself that these guys are just like the teams that helped us get back on the track, and started posting again to help keep these GREAT memories going for your Family and them......Rich

I love the old racing the best, but there is plenty of good stuff still going on to shoot photos of.

This photo Josh posted is proof of that.

Looks like the photog gave it a little bit of fill flash to make it pop.

The 25 is Daryl Dawley. Dawley and Rodger Larson were killed in a crash at Knoxville in 1979.

.....'cg5, 'Thanks for that! I am so glad you pointed that out. Dawley was from Sioux Falls, SD and wasn't he an original mentor to Doug Wolfgang? Also, wasn't the #25 car a Meskowski? Super-cool looking car. I also wish someone would let us know what track that is that the Offy's getting ready to get pushed off?

The track looks to be Nabraska Fairgrounds.

The hole in the side of the Rasmussen car is the fuel filler inlet. Jim Mann still had the fuel tank and Pat York got it for me. One tank was beside the driver and the other in the tail with a rubber hose between. I am using a cell in the rear with a braded line to fill the cell from that filler beside the dtiver.

  22. You are correct that Dawley was Doug Wolfgang's mentor. He gave Doug his first good ride with a hand-me-down supermodified for racing at Jackson,Minnesota. The car pictured is a Meskowski and Dawley later destroyed this car in a spill at the old North Starr track in Minneapolis.

I guess the #71 is Larry [Boom Boom] Canon? It looks like his left arm is not working. Larry was a great driver but would not drive anything without a cage on it. He got upsidedown so many times the name [Boom Boom]. He did not run USACuntill they made cages mandatory [someone correct me if I am wrong] But he was a good driver and stood on the gas hard.
