I thought it was S. Plainfield; I stand corrected: I was still in Piscataway when I saw the Cieri Bros.' car.

    Skip,
    Thanks for correcting me.
Had to go through a Mid-West Chevy Class recommendation catalog from 1971/1972, out of Kanasas City, Missouri. Put together by some dealership, for mid-western racers.
    1965 Chevelle Wagons,
    283/220HP; O/S or SS/Q (L-77 Engine)
    327/250HP; M/S or SS/O (L-30 Engine)
    327/300HP; J/S or SS/L (L-74 Engine)
    Damn Chevy's!!

I bet Steve (56 Pontiac I/SA) remembers those great BAR-B-Q sandwiches we used to eat at 75 & 80 Dragway. I think Bill Wilcomes(sp) mom used to make them.
    Ahhhhhh, the ole days.:p

Your asking me too many Chevy Tech questions. I'm a Mopar guy.
Here goes, I will probably need help or get corrected with this.
    According to the Mid-West Manual;
65' Chevelle Malibu Wagon 283/220HP (Engine Code L-77)
    Rochester Carb Model 4-GC #7025127 (486 cfm) 1.437 x 1.437
    #520 or #896 head castings (1.74 intake/ 1.50 exhaust) 54.9cc
    Flat top pistons (I think 9.25 - 1 compression)
    Camshaft .399 lift Hydraulic
    Should have been classed in M/S 68', N/S 69', O/S 70'/71', and SS/Q 72'.
    M/S 1968 record; I'm guessing 13.95-ish
    Guys,,,please be easy with me,,,Paul

Close enough but I remember a few running low 13's in O/S stick in 1970 and 71.

You should've yelled at "Soupy" (seen waxing the car's roof) and told him to move that old heap outa the way! :D

I can't wait to see it!

I dunno, Steve...all I can see is a Dodge Charger and white sedan delivery behind George Supinksi plus the 1957 Chevy on the right whose artwork on the door I can't make out but I believe I have seen before.

Hey, Tweed...who was that Mopar guy pitted next to you?

Is there a big difference between S. Plainfield and Piscataway, too? We moved from Verona when I was 10 and I could never tell what town I was in when we would head into the "City". same as being in L.A. Am I in Anaheim, Buena Vista, Fullerton.....

Colesy, you're absolutely correct, a Comet it is! Something about that 'Charger' just didn't look right to me, e.g., front end was not longer, C-pillar roof shape questionable, front fender shape reminded me of a 1968 Road Runner, etc. I was influenced by the hood with the two U-shaped reliefs like Chargers have, but still, that 'Dodge Charger' did not look 'right.' :) Thanks for the I.D.

    Regards,

    Pete

No, not really. That's why I thought where I saw the Cieri's wagon parked was S. Plainfield whereas I was still in Piscataway.

    Pete

    Pete,
There was a 67' Mercury Cyclone (427) B/SA car that ran out of Cerritos, California. Ran 'Oh-So-Low' 12.00's in 69'. Maybe was co-sponsored by Cerritos Lincoln-Mercury
That car looks like it. I guess 'FE' 427 single-carbed engine?

FYI: The Cieri brothers, or one of them, (Anthony) may have eventually moved to S.Plainfield, but when they were racing in the late 60's -early 70's they lived on Watson Ave. in Plainfield.

I know that for a fact.
