Straight axles breaking?

I have heard from a good source that a popular brand I beam axle is breaking with no major hit. Seems like the metal is weak or forging problems.
Anyone else heard this? I am looking for a good straight axle any suggestions?

Has anyone heard of a Tiger axle?
By the way Tiger is not the one I am referring to breaking! I just heard they were a good axle but I have never used them before.

i have herd the same thing.in my opp.i would try to find an old one that wasnt made in china!!!

 

so ..maybe the name of the one that is having the problem would be a good thing to put in your post?
being vague about a problem isnt helping..if you feel you have a "good source of information", maybe it shouldnt be left out for your fellow man?

No names until I have proof
It comes from a man that has built about 60 of the 32s. He said one broke when it ran off the side of the driveway, about an 8 in drop. Snapped in half.
Just trying to confirm,

 

Tiger axles...anyone got a source on them? Can't seem to find them on the web.

 

An 8" drop sounds like it could do damage to IFS, ball joints, rims, etc. I'd call that a pretty major hit.

 

I think putting th ename out there is okay, maybe it was a one time occurance but imagine if it wasnt.......what if a fellow hamber is flying down the road with this brand axle, maybe from the same batch and it breaks......he never thought twice because he assumed it wasnt the brand he bought that was breaking. just saying, it would be good to put the name out there so folks with those axles can look at them for failures or fatigue.

 

They were pushing it down the driveway........ if fell off the side. It's not the first one to break.

Not naming names , not confirmed. Too many hungry attorneys!

Just ask around to see if anyone has had any problems.

I would suggest everyone contact their supplier to see if there's any problems going on AND inspect the axles regularly....just in case.

huh....seems like a silly post to me, was the intention to make everyone nervous about their axle breaking?

All I am saying is what I heard and asking to see if any of you have heard the same. I have ordered a new glass 32 and one of the options for axles IS Tiger.
Promote he** I have no idea who they are!

Good ole American Made Iron (Guthrie, Okla) and Sid makes these for several of the aftermarket companies.

I am not trying to stir you up, it is a silly post without a name.....you could say, hey have you guys ever had an issue with "X" brand axles?

it could be a good heads up instead of what it has turned into.

 

For what it's worth, I put a Magnum 4 in. dropped axle in my 40 Ford ten years ago and it hasn't broke yet. I think they are cast, not forged.
