Chris has sealed his fate with this find. Original family owned with title. Been in the garage for the last 20+ years. Cracked block with the head in the cab,all 3 rows of seats and brakes seem to hold. The last time we went to a auction to purchase flooring and returned with a 63 suburban, he slept on the couch for about a month. Props out to his tenacity and vision. Like to remind him that sleeping in your own bed is highly overrated!
sweet find. Looks solid.. so maybe it will be 6 weeks on the couch.. he may need to put a matress in the back of it
Very nice! Junkyard, pressure wash that bad boy and take some more pics. Is the rebuilt 283 going in?
He is a little fella and can fit sideways if need be. Maybe put a loft in it if he stays longer than planned. He found it on Craigslist and in a Lake Stevens neighborhood.. looks like the bottom of Lake Stevens come to think of it! Body is real good shape for a WA ride.
Very nice and rare, most are toast with rusted bodies, looks good a day or so of sorting out plans and a good cleaning will bring it up to speed. I owned a 59 GMC Suburban/Carryall 4x4 Napco a while back and have some stories about that truck. Good luck with it.
great find! if your looking for engine parts i may be able to hook you up with a runner in a 57' gmc panel. pm me with your contact info. external crack in water jacket? easy fix.
WOW!! Didn't think there would much interest in my "garage find". Barn finds are getting harder to locate these days. My 11 year old son and I scotch brite washed the 'burb in the rain on Monday. I want to get it on the road soon. The original 270 straight 6 has a hole in the #4 cylinder... it's toast in my book. Would love to find a good cheap running/non-smoking gmc 6 back in it. NAPCO 4x4 would be my long term plans if I was ever so lucky.
The 283 I built last year is going into the 62 Suburban this year. I hope to sell it the 261 chevy 6 cylinder/trade for parts on the my new bedroom (57 Suburban). Here's a picture of it washed on Monday. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=16641&pictureid=175037
wow..what a find! and came with the 3rd seat!!!!!!!!!!! i wish i still had mine.... 468 chevy, th400 ,3500 stall, mike conte chassis , 3:08 gears ,got it down to 4120 lbs , it ran 13.46 at seattle / sir in the 80's on street tires and would still pull 135 on the highway. it had the aerodynamics of a brick. i had a factory sunvisor on it and when you got up to 100-105mph the windshield wipers would start flapping around
What happened with this Burb? If not much, Can I buy it? I'm in Washington and have Cash, Have Cool trade... What do U want?
