well wrapped up the fabrication of the wood side rails for the bed in just about 2 hours. cost me $35 in material: (1) 2x2 x 8' (4) 1x4 x 8' nuts, bolts & washers galvanized all that is left is to tear it apart, stain the wood in ebony to match the floor and reassemble... plan to paint logos/text on the wood after i stain it, so here is a sample of that:
Yaril it's looking sweet! keep posting progress. I still want to figure a way to get my truck down to you so you can work on it!
truck had spun a rear end carrier bearing so it was out of service for a bit and now that i got her back i thought i would show her some lovin. never posted a pic of the finished rails. ebony stained and logo-ed: got a metal flake wheel and bullet center cap: stock mirror installed, antenna shaved and shaving hood side badges: nosed and peaked with 1/2" square tube: little body work tonight followed by primer.
Looks Cool, Check out the 52 Ford I have for sale in the hamb classifieds, great patina for a future shop truck!
knock knock... broken push rod. weird, but fixed it. after making a similar knob for my 51 Buick i thought i would never make one again cause of how time consuming it was. something made me want to do it so i went ahead and made another lucite shift knob from scratch... after grinding it into shap and some rough sanding... all polished up and ready to be installed... i am pumped on this truck now. its running smoother than ever, only power steering leak and some tranny leak to attend to so i think i will be moving forward soon as i clear up some work at the shop and finally getting this rig in 1 color or shade there of.
wanted a visor for the truck so i took it from my 50 Shoebox it wont be needing it... i "weathered" it in to match the truck some and put all new hardware stainless steel:
cool truck, very similar to the images i have in my head for the truck i will start working on soon. what is that seat out of?
life changes make me do this even though i dont want to: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=490333
no sale yet so i cant leave it alone. engine bay pics, finally got around to cleaning it up and snapping some pics: planning to spray the truck all gray epoxy over the weekend.
its been a bit of a love hate relationship with the "look" of my shop truck. the time finally came to make it more uniform. my pal Leo thought why cant we just paint it in one day? so Saturday morning i bough him breakfast and we got started. i had purchased some black epoxy primer and single stage gray paint with flattener mixed in it. all went according to plan, we even knocked out a few dings and dents that were going to be left alone. 2 good coats of the epoxy primer went on. the problem came when the gray went on. there was just not enough flatning agent. 2 coats were applied as well. lots was accomplished in 1 day with both of us sanding and spraying at the same time. so that same Saturday we put the truck back together and drove it back to my shop. we were both a bit disappointed in that the finish was too glossy. thing is the truck is a work truck and while it looks good it has a lot of nicks and dings that in gloss paint they show up too much. so dont be fooled by this picture. took Sunday off (first Sunday off in a while, it was g-pa's b-day) so when i arrived on Monday morning, something had to be done about this paint job. decided to speed up mother nature and weather the truck myself. now the truck has a uniform "look" last thing to be done will be a simple cab pin-stripe just like factory and perhaps some other accent stripes also aged to match the over feel of the truck. now back to the shoebox project!
i would too, but that came off my 50 Shoebox and selling it provided more funds for that project. thanks all. well, thats it. this one is done. ironically enough i washed the truck for the first time ever.
