Leave him be. He's building an "Australian" Hot rod!! Its part of being Australian....they do things like that!! ( like converting to right hand drive when you dont need too!!) Unless he's copying exactly a hot rod imported from NZ then it will suit it!!
Find a homofagasexual to tell him that he want's to hold his "cooooooool" shifter..... that should do it.
I've got the perfect solution for your dad's "wrong car for that kind of shifter" problem Get him to sell me the '32 ford roadster, desoto hemi, 16- inch ford rims etc.etc. etc., really, really cheap. Then take the money I give him for all the stuff and have him go out buy a bone stock, 4 or 5 year-old Honda to match his shifter! Hell, I'll even through in eough extra that he can go out and buy a brand new 6 inch diamiter "fart can" exhaust tip for it, a whole box of "No Fear", "Nology, "Slick 50" and "SplitFire" decals to slap all over it and maybe even some glitter window tint and a few neon lights too!!! Problem solved! He'll have the perfect, modern, 'in style' car to match perfectly with his shifter and I'll settle for an old, noisy, rough riding, gas-guzzling, and 'way out of fashion' '50's or '60's-style rod, powered by an equally old, obsolete and 'out of fashion' DeSoto hemi - and everybody will be happy!!!! i know it's a huge sacrifice on my part, but one I'm willing to make just to help him out of his awful awful "wrong car for that kind of shifter' dillema!!! I can't help it either. That's just the kind lf guy I am you know Mart3406 ===============================
Let him have it,let him finish the car his way,it will be a cheap car for someone else to buy and build properly!some people have to learn the hard way!
