I finally found myself a Model A. It's a 29 Tudor, the roofs been filled and some patch panels started. It is on a 2X3 frame, suicide front axle, ladder bars and 9" in the rear. 350/350 motor trans. First order of business is to tear it all down and start over. More to come later.
call me crazy but i like when a car runs and drives and i can pull it in over the weekend or so and change up a few things. cars that sit and rot while i tinker just dont do it for me. from the looks of it most of the work has already been done! id change a few things and rub out some spots but all in all it looks like a good runner and only needs to be transformed a bit, not rebuilt
nice. id defintaly throw the 350 in the trash! if the frame is built nice id leave it. small chop and some bodywork and paint ! hellyeh
Pulled the body off the frame this weekend. That was easy and quick. Repairing the hacked chop and a ton bad welds will not be so quick. Most of the patch work and welds appear to have been done by Stevie Wonder when he was drunk. Ehh, shit'll buff out. Anyways, after I pulled the body off I disassembled the cowl. Gutted the gas tank ( Using a fuel cell ), drilled the spot welds for the firewall, and cut out what was left of the front subrails. New parts on the way; new firewall, subrails, and cowl panels. Up next, more grinding and some sandblasting.
Latest purchase for the Model A, a Hobart Mig welder. Okay so it's not part to bolt on, but I'm excited.
Channeled the body over the frame. It's takes some time but man is it worth it. The car sits much better now.
I hear you.... I'd love to but I can't do it, I'm 6'4". It was either chop it more or channel it and the channelling won. But, we'll see how it goes.
Made some progress on the Sedan tonight. I chopped a new windshield frame down to fit. Then I drank a couple beers. I next lowered the radiator a little further. After channeling the body the radiator was about 5 inches higher than the cowl. After that, I had a couple more beers.
hey , if your going to throw that 350 in the trash, I got a car over here that needs to go fast..I'll take it off your hands..seeing how its worth nothing but trash ..I'll even pay to have it shipped to me.. one mans trash is another mans cheap fast powerplant PM me.. or was that all just cheap talk?
Nice little car! If you're going to upgrade that front end MY 29 Tudor could use that 37-40 Ford V8-60 tubular axle. I always liked the Grabowski/Ivo T setup with the spring mounted to reversed 35-48 radius rod ends and hangers at the axle bolts and the radius rods mounted to brackets welded to the frame. I see yours has Model A or 32-34 radius rods and the spring hangs from those flat steel brackets welded to the axle.
