So, I plan on doing a whole thread on the build of this van, and will probably get around to it after I get back from the Round Up, but I couldn't wait to post a few shots from tonight. It is a 1961 INTERNATIONAL METRO VAN. It was property of the US Air Force for most of its life, then went thru a couple of owners until I picked it up last year. It is in the final stages of prep and will get painted next week. Bob cole is doing the body work and paint. It is going to serve as our ACME vendor truck and will probably anoy the crap out of my neighbors because I am going to drive it to and from work during the week and park it in front of my house most nights. The paint scheme will be Black from the belt line down and ivory from the belt line up. It will sport some hand painted logos and lettering on the sides and back (lettering by me). Vanalicous baby...........
I LOVE it! Maybe because my driver is this "flyin toaster" thing...I KNOW I am going to catch some shit on this!!!
Man that sounds like it is going to be some sexy van. Are you going to use Gold or Silver leaf lettering? I think that would be cool. Ebert: I approve. Honda is an engineering company not a car company.
Thanks, Zumo. If it gets dirty, I just hose the damn thing out...I bike a lot and in Chicago, you get so much road rash on your rods, that you have to pick you moments. In the meantime, this is the cure although I LOVE the thread-starter's RIDE!!!! BITCHIN! Would be perfect in CHI-Town! E Ebert: I approve. Honda is an engineering company not a car company.[/QUOTE]
saw this at the local Home Depot the other day. The guy uses it for his band equipment.Sectioned, chopped and channeled over a chevy truck frame.
Pretty crazy. That looks like a lot of work to section a big old thing like a Metro. Thanks for posting this one.
Fresh from the paint shop! Wer'e toastin' now! A few more tweaks to get it road ready and then some hand lettered logos.
Looks good. When I was a kid, our milk man drove one about like that. I think it was blue and white. Should be good advertisement allright.
