Some years back my father saw a guy in Florida with a 32' tudor sedan all done up like a dirt track car!! My father loved it! But, the guy wouldn't part with the car. So, instead of buying this neat'o car, he builds one!! Bought a whole running driving project off Ebay, and got to collecting parts. Most of the stuff needed was there. The Halibrand Quick change was not. Quick change story.... My father and I have a scrap(junk) yard, and when metal was through the roof a few years back, guys were dragging anything they could out off the fields and hedgerows for junk!! A landscaper was cleaning up a farm and was bringing in a bunch of rusted Model A parts. Last load of the day...he drops off the Halibrand!!! Good thing I was there to get it or the "claw" would have crunched it up! When I showed my father what the guy threw out he was floored!!!! So, here are some recent shots of the chassis going together. There are so many more "before" pictures, I just don't have them on my computer. Enjoy!! Body with have a roll bar, sheet aluminum interior, bomber seats, slew of guages, no windows(except for windshield), 1940 Ford steering wheel, Sprint car steering box. Motor is a 283, .030, with a 30/30 cam. Tremec TKO500 5 speed trans, Halibrand Quick change rear with 4.11 gears.
Looks like it will be cool! Hats off for building a '32 in something other than the same old belly-button, boring style!
Body is getting finishing touches over the next two weeks, then going for paint. Red and white with number "32" in gold leaf on doors!!! I think my father is trying to get it ready for Goodguy's Columbus OH show in June? Jake
