Recieved a message this morning that Pork Zartman had passed away. He was the driver of the filthy forty Willys owned by Charley Hill. I had a visit with him yesterday in Hanover,Pa at the home and was able to talk to him just for a few miniutes. I don't know what to say other than he was a good man, a great husband, and a close friend that I will DEARLY miss. The world of Drag racing has lost another gasser legend. Hes in a better world now and out of pain.........Godspeed friend
just heard my self, knew it was coming, my thoughts and prayer go out to the family,a good friend, he'll be missed by many, the shot of the filty forty on the back bumper will always be how i'll remember him real cool guy!! RIP PORK
R.I.P. Pork. Our prayers and condolences go out to his family and friends. Vicki came, with tears in her eyes, a few minutes ago, and told me of the sad news. If there is a bright spot in this, it is that he is no longer in pain.
I see alot of people are asking for the obit. I will look in the hanover paper and try to get it copied and listed on here as soon as I can.
Man this sucks. Not to long ago I was contacted by Porks grandson, Grant. He was asking me about the Hill & Zartman front end on my 55. He is a member here, Zartman456. He seems to have a huge interest in his grandpas past...go figure!!! Nice to know the younger generations are keeping it going. Grant, sorry to hear about the passing of your Grandpa. My sincere condolences go out to you and the rest of your family and Grandpas friends. He will be greatly missed. GODSPEED R.I.P. Pork Sincerely, Al Larsen a.k.a 333 Half Evil
I've gathered 60+ photos I have taken of Pork over the past 8 years. http://rides.webshots.com/album/577159972XgXJsW I hope they will help keep his memory alive.
Definately a sad day. I'm just glad he isn't suffering. We had alot of good bonding time before it was his time to go so I am very thankful for that. Thank you everyone for the kind words. RIP and I love you Grandpa.
Our condolences go out to Robin. Knowing that Pork's days were drawing to a close did not lessen our shock and sadness when word came of his passing. It seems impossible that we will not see him standing with his S&S Racing Team members in the shade of Fred Bear's stacker rig. He may be gone from this world, but he lives in our hearts and memories. I am calmed by the vision of Pork being welcomed into heaven by his friend and teammate, K.S. Pittman.
