The story is too good to not build the car. People's heads will explode when they see the "before" pics

    I agree!
The remains of a 33 Willys floating on barrels being towed across a lake at low tide by a man in a hippotimus shaped paddle boat.....sounds like a heavy drink/drug inhanced tale without the pics to prove it!

Screw the Willys, build the Hippo!

This saga reminds me of this car:[IMG]
1933 Plymouth coupe, yes we dug it out, and it sucked. the car wasn't that bad under the dirt. My brother got hard up for cash and sold it. It went to a hamber, but I never heard if it got built or not.

  12. It's actually Birnie Slough on Puget Island in Cathlamet.

I have heard of Jim's place out there...it is the stuff of legends!

  13. I can honestly say that I feel your pain!:D

Someone has to know who has it! I'd like to see it after the dig!

Better picks? As in 'Pickers' the TV show? It doesn't get any better than this one! Better pix as in pictures, yeah maybe. Give the guy a few days, he'll have it running in no time.;)

I'm glad you have pics for proof because your future grand-kids would think you were fibbing when you told the story. Car, tide, barrels, hippo

    Great story. Way to go!

    That... is.... AWESOME!!!

I agree. Nobody will believe that story.

Two men and a Willys were saved this afternoon by a pedal powered Hippo authorities say. The rescue was required after the car lost a barrel keeping it afloat.

That newsflash would drive enough curiosity to have CNN at your house by dinner.

Love these stories. Reminds me of one I read once where these guys rescued a 1918 Fordson tractor (with the cleat wheels) off a boggy island. They waited till the lake froze and towed it behind another tractor.
