I have looked all over. I just can't find it. I have a crank and I need bearings. They all list .01 .02 and so on for oversize. Mine measures right at 2.2485 - 2.2490 in a VERY cold garage. I assume that 2.250 is stock? I will check closer in a warm room. Is it possible it could be ground .002 under? I feel pretty sure it will check right at 2.25 once its warm. MAYBE? Thanks in advance. Todd
The rod journals are 2.2490 to 2.2500 Rod housing bore is 2.3740/2.3745 The Federal Mogul P/N was/is 2100AP and they were available in Std, .001, .002 and .010,.020, .030 The main journals are 2.4980/2.4990 Main housing bore is 2.6870/2.688 F/Mogul Main set P/N was/is 4265M and they were available in the same sizes. Check the crank at room temperature (60 deg. or so) and if the surface condition is good there is a good chance a set of Std. rods & mains could work.
Does anyone know if the 401 bearings are the same as the Buick Small Blocks (300/340/350). I'm certain I have seen a listing somewhere for Nailhead Rod bearings, and they listed them for both engines. I've searched here but not found a lot to enlighten me.
I've found a Clevite listing and the Rod bearings are the same for 364/401/400/455, but no listings on the mains. I suspect they are different. It's all good, there is a guy locally has a set of Rod brgs, but he hasn't got the mains available.
