I searched the forums for a visor thread and had no luck. I would like to see what visors you made or had made or bought.
I am trying to get an idea so I can try and make one for my 47 Ford Panel that I just chopped.
Some visors I have seen on here through reading threads in the past are totally wicked looking, but I can't seem to find them now. Thanks in advance for any pics you post. Dan

Most folks on this board are not very enthusiastic about the old visors. I've seen a few threads about them but not too many. Fulton and Dietrich were common manufactureres so you might do a search with those names to start.

I searched and there are about 495 threads more or less on visors.

And whatever you do, DO NOT bring up the past too loudly on visors. (Gonna re work a famous poem line here into some advise) Please...'Do go gentle into that good night'. Those who do not learn from history.... well you get the drift.

Thanks FuelFC, Im still learning HAMB I guess. I am just thinking about this, not sure if I will make one or not. I got your drift on visors on some autos, just don't belong.
They are traditional though on traditional rides. Some actually make the 30 A's and others look wicked. my 2c
Metaltwister that COE is lookin good, that visor looks good on there! I would like to see more pics of that Panel sittin inside that garage door to.
xsqiuden, that 40 is awesome, I almost got one years ago and just missed out on the deal. I would love to build one.
THEDUDE and BigEarl those visor's look good on your Chevy's, nice rides.
Thanks guy's for going over that line with me, I was just looking for an idea I was thinking on my old panel.
Alot of Hot Rod fabricator's on here, not everyone goes out and buys a turn key hot rod and joins hamb, some of us still build our own.

  13. hahahahahaha, that first thread is a classic! Vintage HAMB at its finest! hehehehe

Great job! Im actually doin one w/ a roof! for a VW bus, yeah, way O/T for here...

Funny shit dude! The Slamit thread was hilarious! I was tempted to revive it! His Buick is kool btw, but then i like lows......my fault! :D
2nd link doesnt work though! I was hopeing for as much laughs!:D

DUDE, i see its coming along nice! Bomba?
one question for ya, some time ago you said you've been pulled for no headlights and stuff. Did you drive home?kept the truck?
If i was stopped for no headlights here car would have been inpounded on the spot!

Some advice, to anyone that want to sport a visor, think about this:
would you wear a baseball hat w/ a suit? You can alright but you'd look like a goof!
    Good luck w/ youir search!

Isn't it strange..... I count, yes, 1, 2, 3, forum police that are suggesting to OP that his question is off topic for this forum, but don't show a traditional hot rod in their profile(s). Just too humble to brag about yours, but have time to waste? That seems to be a contradiction.................

If you might be talking to me since I see you were poking in my profile there Mr. 29Nash.

I was not made aware by upper management I needed to list everything I own in my profile. (insert Sorry Ryan pic here)

What is it you would like to see of mine exactly speaking of the Popo?

I think I was pretty nice in my guidance on the visor issue and the OP seemed to get it. Just warned to be careful as from the past visors have been a little dicey subject here. Never said off topic. You said that.

    Here's my Vision Visor.

(supposedly), It's a period correct aftermarket unit from the 50's.

It originally had green tinted plexi-glass panels in it, but I switched them out for the smoked ones.

I'll bet it could be copied pretty easily without breaking the bank.

Something on the old and fats 40's early 50's almost screams and pulls for a visor. mid/late 20's early 30's in some of the classic cases it comes out very well too. And well sadly there are ones that just can't wear it or it doesn't fit. (like the previously adorned later model Buick)

Like the pics posted show (less the Buick) they all look decent and can wear it. Rusty yours could wear it and look good. Kind of like girls with big boobs I guess, big boobs are good and bigger are better...

The bottom the links was a search of just the word visor. There were 495 posts. There were a few in the search showing some of the fabbed ones done. And if you dig in the techs htere were a few on that a few years back.

The proportioning of lines and size is a long process in the design of the do it yourself deal. And MS Paint is just a very rough picture.

You almost have to fab one in temp materials and sit and look for a while then re-fit repeat... Almost a you know it when you're there feel.

The over the counter stuff was a big hit or miss. It either was a perfect type of look, top quality, and feel or it was pure cheese and smelt of limburger.

There must be a picture or ten out there of a panel like yours Rusty that has one to gage your vision from.

Patrick46 that is one bad ass panel!!! I never thought about tinted plexi or lexan. That visor compliments the custom of your ride. Nice! and thanks for sharing that pic.

FuelFC, thanks. When I did the search I typed in hand made or store bought visors. I should have tried just visors.
I was hoping to see some to just give me the nudge on if I would or wouldn't make one. I really like that design on Patrick46's panel.
Im a old hot rodder that has learn one valuble lesson " If I dont know, I will ask for guidance" and of course you will get the silly post (and I got a good laugh) but I mean no disrespect to any part of hamb.
Hamb is a very usefull forum with different opinions that gives guys like me an avenue to make a good decision. Bonez Theres some nice rides! I love that little ford pick up!
I thank everyone for posting. Now if someone is thinking or trying to make their own visor these pics will give them an idea. :) Rusty

Bonez has a bingo on those pics.

And Patricks just kind of grows on me more and more every time the pic comes up.

Awwwwwww shucks fellas........ .....now I feel all special and warm inside!!!

52Chevy in P'town...from looking at it I'd say you were right. Mine has a Vision Visor stamped into it right where the flange is that attaches it to the rain gutter...(driver's side, just at the top of where it meets the windshield pillar).

Oh, and I'm probably driving it up to PDX this friday. (possible offer/trade)
