Holy Cow, Mr. Moo!... Some of you folks have incredibly "fierce" forms of motor transportation, i.e. "Hot Rods"... And it's interesting to see photos that feature the wide variety of the different forms of four-wheeled fun that y'all subscribe to... I realize that there's often heated debate and controversy among enthusiasts, regarding what truly constitutes a bona fide "Hot Rod"-- Different people have different definitions of what they consider to be a "Hot Rod"... In my opinion, I believe that everything I've seen on these pages certainly defines "Hot Rods" and "Hot Rodding"-- It's so groovy to see the cars that H.A.M.B. members own and cherish... Whether the cars be colorful and charismatic, or leaning more towards the darker & dastardly side of the aesthetic scale, they're all a sheer pleasure to view... Thanks for sharing... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

  6. I feel slightly different about this post then most folks. I don't think it's really as much about the look the money involved the paint or even aesthetics in the first place. I think it's the feeling it invokes, and most importantly what it does.

    Get driven!

    That is the correct answer.

If you are into hot rods pretty much everything on the last 12 pages should get you going. Not a dud in the box. All real hot rods.

Rodster, here's my Packard powered 34 Ford, I didn't wanna hijack your Henderson thread.
Not the definition of hot rod at all, but a driven, abused and loved example of one.

If you go back and look at the cars on the lakes in the late 1930s, all you see in roadsters with bangers and flathead V8s. The pure hot rod is a '29-'32 roadster high boy with banger or V8 power. But cars in the same brain set are hot rods like coupes before '35. If you add fenders you get closer to being a custom, but you can't say no to cars like the California Kid. If it rattles and shakes and scares the piss out of civilians...it might be a hot rod.

Interesting that I have already downloaded most of the pics on here of real hot rods (IMO) over the past few years. But NOT the GTO - geeez!

PC bullshit aside, a hot rod is not: a custom car, a muscle car, a street rod, a baby carrage or a funny car. Yeah, they are all cool in their own way. If you want to call your car a hot rod that's okay, but none of those vehicles were at the dry lakes and back road races when this thing was getting started.

This is as close as I can show to my idea of what is an actual Hot Rod...
