I just had a th350 rebuilt and I put it the the car and went to back out of the garage for the test drive and it seemed like it went in to gear its started to baug down but didnt move so i drove forward it moved great. so i pushed it out side and took off around the house. It drove great and shifted threw all 3 years fine. nice and easy like normal. but no reverese i took out the gov. and it was moving the piston up and down freely. Fluid level is perfect. I manual shifted it threw the gears and let it shift it self from drive. it was the same both time. It flat out hauls going forward and shift great. but no freaking reverse What is the problem?
does the shift modulator or the kick down have anything to do with this? Or is it some thing in the valve body?
Yeah its acts like it wants to go but it just doesnt go. i held it at around 1000 rpm and dropped it down and it pushed back a little harder but not enough to make it go. its like its slipping i guess
even with "new" parts, you can still wind up with a broken band or an accumulator assembly thats not doing its job.
Not likely, if it were the modulator it probalby wouldnt come out of 1st gear. I dont think the detent would effect reverse either.
well i dont know what the hell is wrong it wont do go in reverse for anything. i took the linkage off and put it in reverese thinkin maybe it was not goin in grear but its in there. the guy wont return my calls or answer them for that fact. called another shop asked him what he tought said he didnt want anything to do with it since some one else rebuilt it he wont touch it now. so i think i took this one up the waz with no lube. looks like you cant trust anyone anymore in this freaking world!
one too many intermediate clutch plates installed behind the pump. it must have been a six cylinder trans. either change the piston on the pump or remove one friction plate and steel plate.
Just the opposite...I had a TH-350 that finally only had reverse. Turns out that the nylon gear on the governor was stripped. I put in another governor and it all worked fine!
Check it in manual low, if its good its usually in the direct clutch Check the 2-3 shift, if good, its a problem in the low rev clutch DAVE
what i had to do my whole high school career...but luckily it was a 3/4 truck and could power over all the curbs in any parking lot
