yes i have a set of tires grooved ready to get redline. problem no one knows what kinda paint to use.i bought a couple of the marks that dont work. red polymer is that true if so who sells it? any ideas? thanks
All I know is use flat not glossy. Glossy won't dry. Enamel maybe? We used flat white enamel on our bicycle tires in the day.
I did it back in the mid-60's & it worked out very well. I sure don't recall what paint I used (you know what they say about the 60's), but it couldn't have been anything real exotic (considering that there wasn't much of a variety back then).
Back in the 60s I used red shoe dye. The kind ladies use to change the color of their shoes. I don't know if they still make it, but it worked good then.
There used to be a product called "Tyre-mark"...came in various colors...Havent seen it in years,,,,maybe do a search on it. It came in sticks like a crayon....
Coker makes replacement tires for my '05 Mustang with the redlines. Here's a pic I took last year at the Woodward Cruise of a AMX front tire.
Right - and there is even a thread (more than one, but this one convinced me to do it)...about it on here, where a guy made WWalls on radials on his s10 with a 1950s look. Have been on there for YEARS, he says. Krylon Fusion. He shows one pic where it is checked and cracked on one tire...but he says the tire was like that before (why paint on it), and the others are fine! Cool.
