You've got it right, K9racer. We had a rule that the front bumper had to be stock, but they could substitute other make or model bumpers. The junkyards in the Louisville area were quickly depleted, and an occasional Mercury on the street was a victim of what we used to call midnight requisitioning.

I found these pics in an local racing newspaper called Area Auto racing news, in a profile done by Vi Spencer, dated May 21 1982.

John, Great Louisville shots !!!!! Please keep them coming.I remember
Jim Robinson in the "Mister Softie" ice cream 57 chevy "droptop"from the "Drome". Gosh those were the days.A High School kid could drive out to the Fair Grounds track with a $5.00 bill and have a great night. TOM ( Tired Old Man)

This photo was taken at Salem. From left to right are Milt Hartlauf, ASA's first director of competition, Dennis Miles, and ASA president and founder Rex Robbins. I figure it was taken in 1972...

Charlie Glotzbach at Salem in a 1965 Plymouth. I believe this was the former Delmonico Foods 1963 Plymouth, updated to 65.

Been looking for a picture of this car for a long time. One of the best (and most fun) race cars I ever worked on. Charlie's 1964 Chevy. Fastest Chevy in ARCA at the time, able to give Jack Bowsher worries at times.

An ARCA heat race lineup at Salem in 1963. Front row, 95-Jim Cushman & 20-Jerry Norris; second row, 1-Dudley Stacy and 2-Dick Freeman; third row, 8-Bobby Watson & unsure on outside; fourth row, 21-Jack Bowsher and 29-Earl Balmer; back row, 88-Ken Reiter and 30-Iggy Katona.

This was the fast heat, I think, and it may have been the day Earl Balmer won the 100-lap feature. Heats were started inverted, so Katona would have been fast qualifier.

FallsCity48, the car was white, and the lettering was red. The shading may have been gray or silver. If you're building a model, let me know. I turned a wrench or two on that one.
