  1. Besides X38's Sloper,Richard's (Popawolf)Sedan is pretty much,the only one I like.

  2. Here's a pic of my 39 standard i chopped back in 85 or so. 2 in chop, slanted w/shield posts, No w/shield rubber, made a pinch weld for the urethane glued glass with glue in moulding and 'V' butted the w/shield in centre.

one of my favorite rides of all time- 39 2 door sedan. there's one on craigslist here in portland that nails it in every way, i wouldn't change a thing-but at $25k, i'll have to pass (or get a divorce..)
here's a pic of it. pure perfection in my eyes.......

I am a mopar guy, but I have always had a soft spot for the 39/40 twodoor sedan. I think it is one of the sexiest (car) bodies ever produced

Here is my wife's car. It is a 39 sedan, top cut off, sectioned 5' & all fenders & running boards welded & molded together. Has suicide doors, V6 engine, overdrive, P/B & Steering.

My 40 Standard that I'm building now, pic is from the late 40s/ early 50's. No, not me in the pic, former owner. As much as I'm into 'history" I can't do skirts on it, I'm going the hot rod look. If it was a 39 Standard thou, I think I could drop the tail and add the skirts. We have a nice 39 Standard waiting in the wharehouse, just might do a custom to it.

You can do a lot to change them but not much to improve them. Here's mine in 1965 with a '55 small block, lowered and decked.

They make great kustoms. I think Franco had one, he probably has pictures. I have one from Paso early to mid 90's, but my scanner is no bueno. Beatnik purple with green flames, chopped with Olds Fiestas. I am pretty sure it was Franco's.

I know it's a deluxe......but still one of the greatest '40 sedans ever:

These things are super hard to chop, X38s is the only one that looks good. In fact its superb and one of the best customs I have ever seen.
Get the car and go the custom rout with a chop like X38s. The whole rear needs to be slanted to give it a graceful curve. Most are chopped like you would slice a coupe making them hunch backed, thats why they don't look good.
Go for it, you can build one of the most bitchin' custom 40s out there.

LOVE that sedan. At least one of those photos is from the Rod & Custom magazine story isn't it?

I just sold mine in the last couple of weeks. I could see owning one again but I would look for a Deluxe model instead of the Standard.
