I think EVERY car of that era should be chopped. There is just way too much head room, and it looks disproportionate when the car is lowered. Now the severity of the chop differs from car to car, but the ALL need to be chopped!

To not decide is to decide.
Rather than chop it any certain inch amount, I'd like to see the profile adjusted to flow at the same angles as the sweep of the fender tops.
Another vote for lose the pipes, it ain't a Chevy..

Did you guys know that the car was originally designed with a two inch lower roof line, but the corporate bosses decided it needed more head room for guys that might want to wear a hat? I want to cut 2 maybe 2.5 off the top, it would do the original design justice and would look better in my opinion, plus I would mold the rear fenders to the body and redo the runningboard area and add some other custom touches and put a nice shiny paintjob on it to finish it off. Make it a real custom.

Don't be a lemming ... leave the top alone.

Oh yeah, for God's sake lose those dufus pipes!

  18. Usually I like the look of a chop better, but in this case the pillar lines are SOOO right for the car, I'd leave it alone. I'm afraid the chop might spoil those proportions no matter how well done...

The photochop looks great but damn if she doesn't look good as she sits. Yeah I know, thats no help at all.

  21. La Salles are Cadillacs. Ya can't have headers sticking out the side on a classy car like that. Ruins the flow, IMO.

No to the chop, yes to some more dechroming

When you tally the votes, remember, that "either way" is the same as "don't chop", since no one in their right mind would go to all that work if they didn't feel the car really needed it.

Oh, and although you didn't ask, but many others commented, I really like the pipes too.

no chop! add some skirts and lose the pipes. the "less is more" approach would fit this car perfectly.

Sure the car doesn't really need it, but that's the thing that makes a custom a custom. Doing something extra that doesn't need to be done, making it a custom. There wouldn't be any customs or Hot Rods if one only did things to a car that it really needed. No car needs airbags, a nice custom paintjob, a better engine, a custom interior a.s.o. A bone stock car is just fine, it runs it drives what else does it need? Right?:D Building a custom or Hot Rod is all about doing things to a car that don't really need to be done and doing all that work that doesn't need to be done just to make it a little faster, a little lower, make it flow a little better, set it apart from the factory look. Don't you think? Who in their right mind would spend all that time and money to build a custom car? I don't know anybody that would, do you?
