I've been a long time reader of the H.A.M.B. I've just too lazy to post anything, most of the time I'm looking for porn online. So I'm the FNG here. I've posted some info about myself on my profile if yer interested at all looking, some of you may know me. But anyways, Axle, you did a good job. This is my first time back at the Autorama since you took over the suede portion of the show. I had fun. I snuck in so much alcohol...I had a blast being loaded all day seeing all my old friends and meeting new ones.

I want to thank My Baby Jo for giving me an award for my piece of shit Wagon. You must have put so much time and effort into that painted palm tree leaf and I love it! I also want to thank the Dragoons C.C. for their award. I appreciate it so much that your club liked my car.

I've been messing with these Old American Cars since 99. I've never had a nice paint job and never re-chromed anything and.....I've never received any award for anything from all the shows I've been to in the last 10 years. These are my first awards ever. If you all want them, you can have them. I'm just grateful my car made it, considering I've been laid off for 2 months and my wife and I losing our first child and I'm broke as fuck! I'm proud that I was a part of the oldest car show in the country whether I won an award at all. You all have bad ass cars! Just go to the shows and be with your friends becuz there isn't that many of us out there. There sure as hell wasn't that many cars there compared to the past. Anyways, I love you guys.

    Axel,

So somehow this got turned around into people whining about not getting an award. What I stated earlier was said to me by trophy presenters not trophy getters, who I might add, are also stand up guys. Obviously it’s at the “he said, she said” point. Although after reading your response "I tell people to pick their favorite car, be sure to look at the rear of the building - at cars they may of forgotten, to also look/think about "front row" cars that will probably be multiple award winners" I will admit that it’s possible your message was interpreted to mean something else. You could have inadvertently told/suggested to them not to pick any of the front row cars.

Still you have to admit, that no matter how innocent it may be, a promoter, or their spouse, friend, co-worker, club member, or whatever getting an award at their own show, is going to be looked down upon with suspicion.

That doesn’t seem to be the case of the pinup contest though. John came up to me, right after Darling Danika won, and said “What’s with this whole thing about tattoos? Look at her she’s f**king beautiful. I see nothing wrong with them, they look great. I don’t know what Axel was thinking when he said that.”

As I said before, I’m just reporting on what I saw and heard.

WOW !!! What is going on.

I will give You guys my Take on the show as a first time participant and Award presenter. Both Axel and Alex are out standing guys !!!!!! and with out there hard work, none of you guys would have anything to bitch about I guess !!! What I saw and felt was THE SHOW STARTED AS SOON AS YOU WALKED IN TO THE " D " BUILDING (( Suede Pavilion )) If you took the time to look around all you would have seen and heard was Good friends enjoying and hanging out together , Great Music and really great cars. I did not get that feeling in any other area's there.
As a Trophy presenter My self and my good friend got together after Alex (( Gambino customs )) posted he was looking for help with Trophies and we Built 2. When I called Alex He was glad for the help and told me to just have fun with It. When I arrived I was greeted by Axel and I parked the car and I asked Axel how was I to proceed with the Trophies, He told me to pick any car in the D building and we would be called up on stage to present the award to the car's we like AND THAT WAS IT . I met some great new friend, enjoyed the music and cars and I would like to thank Axel for all your hard work and If there is anything we can help you with in the future I would be honored to help.

Hey man your car was one of the ones I dug on the most! I loved the wheels and lowering and with the things you have and haven't done all point to the promise of what that car could/will be and I think everyone saw that. I was stoked to just see a 2 door 59 wagon! And couldn't believe that there were two of them at this show! One in the main hall no less! My condolences on your loss man.

Thank you Dave, I appreciate everything you've built and all the times you took out of your day to have a conversation with me. The Hudson looks amazing as usual. Look forward to seeing you at another event. BTW, You got a good point on changing the voting to point system.

Thank you James...I love the Galaxie...The paint, Chrome, Interior, and the wheel Combo is bad ass! Not only that, it's a Ford!!! (love Fords by the way).

axel dose a great job with all the shows hes involved with period!
to put on a show like this is easyer said than done esp when you have limeted control of the internal goings on .
As for everyone not being happy with the winners, etc. make a trophy and do your own pic represent your club your shop or your self , this is what we make it , its all about coming together for a common goal ,if your not happy with the result do somthing about it to make things better bitching and monning is not a solution to make things better but part of the problem
be sure to volunteer help out with everything next year to try to make sure that most everyone goes home happy.

this is rediculus to say the least

im happy to say that axel is a good friend and a stand up guy
and he knows how to throw one hell of a party
axel dose the best job he can with what he has to work with and its hard to pull off with limeted space you cant please everyone
(to be continued im off the the hospital )

Glad to have ya back up north here!
I wasnt saying to make it point system more like a peoples choice or more specifically a participant choice for one award like Paso Maria. If you wanna be a glory hoar that would be the one to get as most people "car people" liked it!
I agree with Gambino as usual. Axle only picked three awards the rest were done by clubs, shops, ect. Get involved volunteer. When I went GNRS this year one of the first thing I did was to go to Axle and Say" hey man you need a hand with anything let me know I'm down to help" I did the same thing at Sac the last 2 yrs.

I give Bruce a pat on the back. He is a stand up guy and is calling it like he sees it and as he was told. It takes guts to get on a message board and use your name to bring attention to issues.. Poor Boys do a good job on their show and have over the years so he knows what he is talking about. Axle does a good job organizing the suede room, but has a few bugs to work out..Sounds just like last year.. we help out on a couple local shows and run a small local show and always opt our cars out of competition..We have had people choice before and our car was written in and we still didn't take the award. We passed it on to the next guy without a mention. If your car is in the show you run.... and you get an award, it will always raise eyebrows. The lay out looked better last year in the suede room. We chose to not make the 7 hour drive this year. If there were no awards, there would be no problems.. It is about the cars and seeing old friends etc.. If you let the guys in the main halls worry about awards, no one would have complaints... Jason.

  15. Missed the Autorama this year, so have no first hand knowledge of the weekend. What I can comment on is Alex & Celelste Idzardi. Have been a paticipant, a club award presenter, an award winner, and a multiple award winner at shows Alex & Celelste have put on. Also, put on a show that has had DJ "Axle" spin the music. Have never witnessed anything but an amazing effort to make the show better than the last one! And if anybody has paid attention, Alex & Celeste are far too busy working to be involved in the "politics" and non-sense brought up on this thread.

Personally, I go to shows to have fun and see other folks rides, and hope that a few of them enjoy seeing ours. I couldn't care less about an award, and if one is received, say "thank you". We keep returning to the shows that prove to be fun, and tend to avoid the ones that aren't. So, if you call "no joy" about the Autorama, don't go next time, leave it those who enjoy it.

Have also, come to realize that those most concerned with awards, are generally the most miserable people in the crowd. They cannot be satisfied regardless of what you do for them. I say this as somebody who is working on their 23 annual show right now. Also, I always enter my cars in our club show as, "display only", just so I don't have to listen to any whining.

Alex, I know you have a clean conscience about your actions, so don't worry about it. Just keep trying to get the best possible cars to your "Suede" endeavors, (and Viva) and promote the traditional side of Hot Rods, & Kustoms. When one of this years whiners wants to register their ride next year, maybe you should remind them how unhappy they were this year, an suggest they go elsewhere. A simple solution for all involved.

    Johnnie.

I realy didnt want to join in on the internet gangbang.
But ive been doing this for over 12 years now and i got into this aka rat world to get away form the big dog pantshitter hotrods, i remember when we were told we could not come to shows cause we had a primer ride , but they always had a under construction class that was a done car except for the interior or some bs , funny now that there are professional"ratroders'' and professional "'ratrod" clubs out there, the money hungery sharks come out and try to capitolize on this scene and now they beg us to come to ther shows, funny how money and fame changes everything. I dont realy care what anybody thinks i know what i saw this weekend frist hand im not gunna get on here and throw that person under the buss, but i have no reason to make up a bunch of lies and bull shit . I'll stand up anytime to defend my point you can call me up and i'll give you the other side of this bs any time my phone # is in my profile poor boy jay,

We had a great time at the show, good people, old friends and a ton of inspiration for current and future projects. Being one of the four in the Suede Drive-in was cool, it was the best parking at the show. I was just pissed Von Hot Rod kept parking his golf cart in front of the 23.

OK well i thought the suede room was really nice had good cars and great people in there. i will say that there were issues that came up and i have my opinons but since i didnt have a car in there i will keep them to myself. but i did have art work that went to the auction and i was pretty disappointing how cheap everything was going for. im not sure if it was a lack of appreciation or was it bad organization. TJ i commend on your efforts i know its tough i have been doing this for years. i just feel that the stripers that were trying to raise money for a good cause were shoved into a tight corner and were given lil to none attention to help promote the efforts of there work. i know its tough to put these things together but its also tough to put alot of work into a piece and have it sell for next to nothing.....
SO PLEASE EVERYONE, next time you see one of these auctions understand the efforts of the artist and the promotors, but also please understand that its hard to be creative when space is so limited... soo thanks again i had a great time and hope to see ya next year!!

I for one totally concur with Gambino!
Lets set the record straight, the Poorboys were initially asked to manage the Suede building but didn't agree with the producer on certain matters so pulled out. The producer then asked someone else to manage the building and the Poorboys are still complaining. You can't have your cake and eat it too! At least Axle & the producer have maintained professional courtesy throughout this thread and haven't stooped to the level of bashing others in this public forum.
Congratulations on another well organised show Axle. Anyone who thinks that they could do better should give it a try someday.

Well it's pretty obvious now that there are a few people on this board that are revered as stars or gods and can do no wrong. When it gets to the point that people, who have no first hand knowledge of what happened, start calling you liars and pick sides soley based on a premise of I know him and I don't know you, then it's a sad day. It's too bad that all of Axels minions didn't really read what I had written and only focused in on one point. As I have said here already, I'm just reporting what I saw and heard. This is NOT a Poor Boys bitch, this is just me talking.

Just for the record, especially for those of you that know me, I am not some young kid with their first car whinning about not winning. I've been around the block a few times and I do put on a show every year, so I do know what it's all about. I've never shit on anybody and I don't appreciate having shit dumped on me from people who don't know me or don't know anything about what I saw and heard.
