Well... after some Chineese Flexplate issues (Summit Brand SFI FLEXPLATE teeth shattered when cranking it!!--Ended up buying a B&M brand))....I was able to bolt this baby together this morning and fire her up!! I set STATIC timing to about 8* BTDC so she would at least start up...eyballed the rough idle screw, topped off the fluids and crossed the fingers!!! Turned the key...I bet the engine only rotated once and fired right up!!! Idle was pretty darn close as well!!! Ran the tranny thru the gears ---all looks good! I'm glad I didn't bleed the brakes yet or I would have been tempted to take her out in the 17* temp, snow on the ground, and no windshield yet!!!....in due time she'll be out and about!!! Here is a YOUTUBE short video of the car: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTURv1E_pWw <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
Man you should channel and chop it! I'm guessing you're around 4' tall... Looks and sounds great man.
Is that a rebuilt or crate engine? Generally the best practice on firing a new engine is to run it at 2500-3000 rpm for 15-20 minutes to break in the cam and lifters. Letting it idle is not the best idea. But good job on preparation as it started on the first crank.
Neato burrito! I've always thought a Fordor A-bone would make a bitchin' booze cruiser, yours is a neat hot rod!! Where's the test drive?
6" Chop and 3" Channel...I'm 6' tall and 250 lbs and fit pretty darn comfy in there!! Engine was TRANSPLANTED from another vehicle. Engine was a good solid runner when pulled. ...Did nothing internal. Engine already had a very mild cam installed and all I did was just a new intake, carb, distributor, oil pump and pan, valvecovers... Well...it's 2* outside this morning and snowing....I think it will be a little while before she gets on the road!
Well..a snowy cold windy day today....got the egine properly timed, carb nicely adjusted and tranny topped off!!! Come on SUNSHINE!!!!
ANother walk around video I threw together... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCzZWPmqJmw ---- Took her out for a spin around the block last night...all is good!!! My face is still defrosting (no windshield and 16* out)...but ran, steered, shifted and stopped!!! Video to soon follow!
First test drive!!! http://www.youtube.com/v/SQpNsOGP_hs Pay no attention to the whining sound...I had an electric fuel pump...the noise drove me nuts!!! I have since installed a mechanical one!!!
