My first hot rod build was a 48 Dodge Club Coupe . Bought the 48 Dodge for $ 75.00 ( Rust Bucket ) . Got a free donor car for the Drivetrain. ( 68 Ford LTD Country Squire Wagon ) . Used the Front Clip , 390 Engine , FMX trans and 9" rear . It came out OK , for a 19 year old. ( in 1988 ) .

My high school buddy always reminds me.... No matter what it looks like , you will always be driving a Station Wagon . :D

Why waste a real engine on one of those Brand-X cars?

OK, remember that Baskin-Robbins has 31 flavors.......

'Back in the day'; - circa 1971-'72-'73 or so, there
    was a guy running a '62 or '63 Chevy II Mod/Prod
racer at the local track, with a 289 Ford in it. The
narrower, front sump, sbf block actually fit in the
early Chevy II chassis better and easier than a sbc
would have , plus the 289 was about 60 lbs. lighter
than a sbc. I don't recall how competitive the car
actually was, but it sure got lots of looks in the pits
and it gave the announcer something to yak about
whenever the car came up to the line!

  14. Back in the 80's my cousin had a V8 Vega running a FORD 302/c4 combo. That was a cool little car that bucked the trend.

  15. I had a Yblock in a 37 Chev!! A couple of years back at the Chev nationals in Victoria a guy pulled in with a twin V8 powered HQ ute should have heard the Chev boys cry !! twin Cleavlands

Put a 272 y block in a 54 ch vy ,then welded up the back doors and cut the roof off.Just to seal the deal I grafted the rear section of a 60 plymouth !

I drove a '41 Plymouth 2-dr sedan with a 289 & C-4 every day for 10 years. Caught a bunch of crap about my choice of car and drivetrain, but I loved that car. Painted it VW Saturn Yellow...just to stir the pot. I drove it to the '76 Street Rod Nationals, and it was known to show up at the eighth mile drags on Sundays. I have missed that car every day since I sold it over 25 years ago.

"Turnabout is fair play" In the early 70's we built a 66 C10, with a 390 in it. It wasn't all that fast, but it would pull down a house. It pulled our race cars all over the country for a good many years. I'm still a purest, Ford in a Ford, Chev in a Chev. Ether one in a Dodge. LOL :D:D:cool:

I have a non hamb worthy 70s gm product getting BBF. Engine is in, trans is in, it fit great. All that is left is the small stuff, wiring, fuel lines etc... All put together with parts that were cheap, free, or stuff I had kicking around.

There's an older guy in Vista CA who made a '35 Chevy truck into a roadster PU, painted it bright red and runs a 351W in it - don't have any pics though.
