No I think that you give it to someone that never has the hood open that way no one can
say that he shouldn't have won. Judges reply would be, "you didn't see what was under his
hood?" "Man you should have you missed out...." Kats don't like trophy hounds and this
    would really mess with them.

Awesome showing of customs, but like someone else said, seems like there were a lot of high tech cars.

Still wish I had made it...thanks for the pics!

Thanks Rikster for the exta pictures. The Merc in 1988, wow what a project. I wonder
if the same guy owned it back then, if so I'm surprised that he didn't get burned out. I
guess if you have Bill Hines behind the torch you know that it will be worth the wait.

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

Hi guys, thanks for all the commpliments on my chevy. It has been along time comming, through kids and divorce. But it is finally reaching completion. I promise next time I get it out it will have the hood back on. With having a working shop my stuff always comes last, and with very little to no sleep getting 7 cars in the gnrs. There simply was no time to figure out the latch for the hood. thanks again.
    Fabian.

The De Rosa built 52 Cadillac was acquired by Johnny the week of GNRS. The decision to sell it was a difficult one but Frankies happy.

The car is now in the Peterson Museum in LA and who knows what will come of it....only time will tell....

You do what you must...especially when you have another build in the works...... Anyone that can move a car in this economy is doing pretty damn good.

The simplest solution to a no-latch hood is a chain (or a cable) and a padlock...it'll hold the hood down at even the highest hiway speeds...I know, I have one on my car...besides, it keeps unwanted fingers out...!!!

Found some more pictures of the '51 Merc. I love it with the top down, can you
only imagine how kool it will be with a boot....Maybe Hines best work to date.

  17. I disagree. The best way to hold the hood down without the latch is to get one of these pinup girls walking the show to sit on it. And just tell her hold on TIGHT when you make turns. Makes for great hood ornament also. Very nostalgic. :D
