A friend of mine had one back in the very early 70's. In fact there is a photo on this site somewhere of it, I think it was under the straight axel topic, it was orange and called "Time Machine" It is/was different, but neat.

this thing is BAD. i was pulling into jonah's driveway right as they were firing it up for the first time. i guess pete jackson of Enderle fame did the actual tuning of the injection after it debuted at viva.

that car was crashed at bluegrass dragway near Lexington Ky. in the late 60s, the driver was killed. the only fatality during that dragstrips operation i believe.

Lots of awesome stuff here and I love the Royal Kustoms Bantam and I would gladly have ponied up the asking price if I'd had it. That auction hurt me to watch.

ANYWAY...now that I've seen the Caddy Eldo, I am throwing out the "where's the convertibles?" challenge...

Depending on where the tire rides, the slicks grow in diameter on the top end. The metal would cut through the tire.
Nevermind, I just went back and saw the pic. It must've sat lower at one time.

  23. Not a Gasser, Altered, or Streetfreak...but definitely a Oddball - a Compressed Air Dragster. If you can't read the words in the caption under the main picture, it states: "Compressed air is transferred from storage cylinders to engines through main frame members which have been pressure tested at 1,000-plus psi. Water-alcohol injection keeps engine temp down to avoid melting turbine wheels; fuel can be anything from gasoline to peanut oil. Autronics high-voltage coil fires special Champion plug at 25 sparks-per-second rate"
I remember there was a simple schematic on how this thing works, but must of fell out of this March '64 Hot Rod Mag.

This car was banned from running at the dragstrip due to the frame. It is garage art it was trailed everyplace it went. Not streetable and can not be at the dragstrip. and it was not because of the headers like thet kept telling everyone.

There's an old Jeep flat-fender pickup sitting not too far from my place that would make a killer gasser-style ride.

Somebody needs to get on one of those, doubt I'll ever get around to it.
