    Tide...as in salt water?

Leave it where its at. It's gonna have issues with corrosion in the wiring! :)

I think ghost is right, looks like a `33 willys model 8-88a

  6. Genius, Rod!

I think I might be able to hook a hose up to the neighbor's house. We are going to see what kind of damage we can do on friday!!! I'll try to take as many pictures as I can.

Hackerbilit, not saltwater, it is sunk into the bank of a slough off of a river...The wiring might be saveable!

  10. With the help of the H.A.M.B. it has been determined that this is what's left of a 1933 Willys model 8-88a custom sedan.

    Thanks guys!!!

    The dig: Day one

This is where we started (pic 1 and 2)

We started at the firewall and worked forward, only to find that someone had cut the front clip off of this car 60 years ago!

Oh well, we are way too dirty to stop, the Willys will make some great wall art anyway!

We weren't able to secure a pressure washer this time, but we will on the next trip! (Thanks, Rod for the great idea!)

We made it around the perimeter and channeled a drainage "creek" through it.

We will give it a couple of tide cycles and hit it again on Tuesday.

The timing of the tide will be off on Tuesday, but we will hit it extra early!

Wish us luck...and enjoy the pics!

But hey, its about having fun with cars, and you guys look like your having fun.
Look forward to seeing it out.

Be the "Boss" on the Archaeological Dig and tell them "Dig First,Beer Second"!

"Barn Finds" are now replaced with "Swamp Finds"...

You always hear about stuff like this, sometimes you get "as found" photos, but I don't think I've ever seen a post where someone actually got out a shovel and did some digging. Cool find and good luck!

just thinking how funny it is that some people won't get a car if it is the wrong color, but some are willing to dig them out of a freakin' river, awesome!
ahh, the length (or in this case muddy depths) car guys will go for free stuff.

what about the other car???????????you get that too??

    you get it out yet?

  24. It reminded me of a Model A coupe that my buddy and I found in the bottom of a creek bed in about 1984. There was about 8" of roof sticking up out of the sand. At the time it wasn't worth digging out. Hmmm...makes me wonder if it might still be there.

  25. Will there be anything left after it's washed, though?

Hmmm. Might be a start to a new thread.
Titled. What did you find in a ditch. I found the back half of a 37 ford 2 door slant back in a old home stead back yard fill. At first I was gonna pass on it, but after driving the distance, I figured I'd pull it out since it was just tossed in there, and not a whole lot of digging was needed. And good thing I did because under the main body was all the fenders, hood, grill, and trunk lid. I wonder what happened to the cowl, and windshield area?

There used to be a 30s 4 door car buried about 3/4 of the way up the doors in Camp Croft in Spartanburg, SC. I remember hiking around there as a kid and thinking it was neat.....the roof was rotted off, the tops of the doors stuck up with the windows rolled up. Near an old homesite foundation.

On the Pacolet river, also in Spartanburg, there was a hillside illegal dump with an old car upside down in the river, I remember the rear of the frame sticking up with the chrome bumper out of the water, you could see the frame under the river....I always wanted to dig it out just to see what it was as a kid.

  28. I have to wait until tuesday for another day off.

We WILL have it out on tuesday for sure!

The other car will wait for another adventure...once we get this one out, I HAVE to focus on my lady's Cadillac!:D

  29. The plan is to just use the pressure washer to cut the mud.

The floorpans are completely gone, so we are hoping to be able to push the mud right through the car with the washer.

    We shall see!:D
