Sure will be great to see Chuck Berry, but the KIWIS are really looking forward to seeing the Queen of rockabilly Wanda Jackson. saw her at Winter sun in Aussie and she was absolutely electric. Bring it on. Havent been to VLV before so it will be all new. Maybe we will catch up with some hambers and get to cruise vegas in style.

Almost bought tickets to fly out there for it. It was a good thing i checked their website and found out it was a 21+ show, becasue i would have been pretty mad if i flew out there and couldnt get in. I just cant wait to go out there next year. Hopefully then get another act like Chuck to play next year.

We saw him and Little Richard about six months ago and he was in some serious need of some Geritol. Now Ruth Brown was a different story!!!

Been going for seven years to viva and I have never met one of those there.
Never met a 'billy that wasn't into rockabilly and never met a greaser that wasn't into cars. What makes this weekender much different then others is that it draws a majority of the L.A. scene-the largest greaser scene in the world, and who are much different than those you find as you head towards the midwest.

  16. You said it all in that one word....Scene.

The "scene" is about having a good time......Not sure why people have such a problem with that.

  19. Dont think that many people have a problem with the scene, its just that the " scene" is one thing and KUSTOMS are another.

nah...It all fits together. Just some people who are not "rockabilly" type of dressers or type of people, seem to think they above those that do.

I'm into 'the scene' and I have a Kustom.Hep since late '70's,no skulls spiderwebs or rust on my ride, and I have two small tatoo's that mean something to me on my upper arms.I dig good R'n'R and Rockabilly.Don't tar every one with the same brush.

Some people use the word scene in a purely derogatory way, I get that. "Scenesters" are people who dress up on the weekends and come monday are trying to wash the greaser out of their hair. Its not a life style to these people, they are just posers. The rest of us can tell they are posers, theyre not fooling anyone, but to each their own. But the semantic range of this word is much broader then just that meaning. I use it to describe a large well organized and defined group of people who honestly live and breath this stuff. You should go up and talk to some of us while your there. I think you'll find that we have some things in common.

Oh yeah I almost forgot, keep an eye out for my son's band, The Caezars in the states for the first time at VLV playing the WILD Records show, and the WILD WILD WILD VLV Rockabilly Pre-show on March 31st at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino 4455 Paradise Road. They've also got some dates round about the same time in L.A. Details below:

Shameless family self-promotion I know, but it's a big deal for them and I know my son Danny (Lead Guitar) would love to hook up with some H.A.M.B.er's.

  26. What they said.....

I've been into the music since I was a kid, had grease under my nails (and in my hair) for as long a I can remember...I love the cars, the real people & the music....Always have...Not the trendy this week, wannabe scenesters.

Go, enjoy the music event with a car show...which is what VLV is, not the other way round.

    Thanks for the support Ian,

I got in to Rockabilly in 1982 and haven't looked back since. I got in to cars shortly after. The way i see it, there will be people popping in and out of everything i like and thats just the way it is, i guess. The ones that are around a few years from now are really in to it....the ones that are M.I.A. a year from now, well, it just wasn't for them - or maybe they weren't in to it in the first place.

Some people around here have said "VLV, there's a lot of people dressed too 50's".....or "there seems to be a lot of greasers there" . Last time i checked it was a 50's music weekender with added bonuses such as the Shifters car show, Burlesque contest, Tiki pool party, etc. Its one of the longest running alternative events in the country and over the years i've seen people drive vintage cars from as far away as Canada, Upstate Washington, Florida, and New York. We even had someone ship his 57 Olds from Hawaii once. The Road Rockets from Indianapolis drive out almost every year for the past 9 years. They have figured out that they have put 20,000 road miles JUST for Viva Las Vegas! If that isn't hard core i don't know what is! Its all what you make of it. Some of you that say "Its a little too 50's for me" . Relax, bring a folding chair with ya, listen to one of the kings of RocknRoll (Chuck Berry) check out the amazing looking tits and ass walking around every 5 seconds, and have a blast.

Like my good friend Johnnie Walker once said, "If you go there to have a good time - you're gonna have a blast" . Ya just can't say it any better than that.

The Shifters have weeded out and denied SO many junk cars that its literally going to be a cool traditional Hot Rod & Custom car show again. Those that are still negative about our event - please, leave your comments at home and let us work hard to have a great event and enjoy our show. Those that are registering your cars for the event, you're gonna have a great time.

    Thanks , Shifters
