Awesome man! I know how that works. One thing at a time. I love shoebox gassers. I'm sure you saw the lime green one that used to be on here?

G V Gordon I don't have any other pictures from the day I put the straight axle under my car. I used a 46" wide straight axle kit from Thompson's Garage. The front of the frame is stock how Henry made it. I just removed the original a-arm set up, used universal GM side motor mounts and modified the original transmission mount.

OK, that tells me what I wanted to know. The one pic looked like you may have cut part of the spring pocket to make the side rail straighter. Good looking Ford.

Another quick question. Did you use the original steering box and arm?

On the one video getting squirrely you can see daylight under both back tires, reminds me of a car I had, but it would jump up 3 times before settling down. Shake the beegeefeers out'a ya...:D

    NutaJunka,

It will jolt you in the seat pretty good. But a friend of mine in Ill. told me to try and put longer travel shocks on the back. Since I might be out of travel with the stock replacement shocks when the car launches and that could cause the car to pull of the ground.

    G V Gordon,

I used the stock steering box and heat and bent the pitman arm down to let the tierod have more clearance on the oil pan and the give a better angle to the tie rod end. The pitman arm side wanted to bind up a little when turning.

Are you running stock leaf springs in the rear?

    Nutajunka,

I have new 2" wide wagon/woddie springs from Posies. I took the three small leafs out and plan on clamping the leafs. In the video I had all 8 leafs in the springs.

Hey Custom/3 , thought you might enjoy this vintage shot. Taken at the long gone Flemington Dragway, NJ - Oct 1964.

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT. Be still my heart. Awesome car. Building a 50 gasser myself. Been waiting 4 years for the guy to sell me the car. Not to many pics of those on line as gassers. Nice to see another one. Definitely inspirational. Loved the video. Where did you get your headers, and how well did they fit? Drive the HELL out of it.

    Carfanatic,

I got my headers from Thompson's Garage 513-237-4428. They fit well clear body mounts off firewall by about 3/4 to 1 inch on passenger side and about 1 1/2 on driverside. Made my own turn down bolt on tips to point towards the ground instead of into floor pan.

Those headers look like the ones I have on my truck in the pic. Speedway called them fat fendered ford headers. I thought they might work but wasn't sure.

I used the 46" straight axle kit with disc brakes from Thompson's Garage. It was $1275 all I needed was wheels and drag link. Call Steve he will help you out 513-237-4428
