Hello all, I am in the process of building up my 1939 Dodge 1.5 ton truck. It is a California Special and a stakebed. The plan is to use the 1995 Cummins and 47RE out of my donor truck. I will be building this as a community build, with the help of all in the community I hope to be able to finish this truck. On Saturday I will be removing the engine out of the 95 and possibly the 1939 with the help of a few locals. I hope to be able to have air ride suspension, and build up the engine and transmission for more power. Well if you want to see more about my truck, visit www.1939Cummins.info. Thanks, -Ryan
Welcome from the East side. You might want to look at this project, it may be helpful: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=355535 .
73rr, Yeah I found that posting and have connected with him. He is following my build site and I hope to have him chiming in as things progress. I agree his build has many similarities, I am hoping to fit the full 6 cylinders Thanks again!
Welcome from the South Coast of Oregon. If you want some real inspiration about a Diesel in a more traditional venue, look at Crusty Nuts 4Cyl Bread truck motor in a 30 Ford 2 door sedan. One of the best conversions I've seen. Also check out the Northwest Hambers Social Group. But please don't say anything about YUGO's. (insiders point of contention== bad joke) Movin/on
Welcome from Aloha, neighbor! That's going to be cool. Been thinking lately how nice it would be to pull into the cruise-ins with some serious diesel harmonics working under the hood. I think I can find Beaverton, so will have to check it out sometime.
I have to go with the Cummins Diesel, it would just be too cool. I have already taken the Cummins out of the donor truck and starting to tear it apart, rebuild it and get it ready for it's new life in the 39. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come over, take a peek at the project and turn a wrench if you like. I really need engine performance stuff to beef up the power, anyone have anything to donate to the casue... you get recognition on the web-site and all future shows, magazines etc. If you have something pricey and need something off my 95 Ram 2500 we can work out something. Thank you all for the warm welcome!!! -Ryan www.1939Cummins.info
Welcome from the mountain. Nice project. I have a similar project with my 46 Studebaker m15 1.5 ton. I like the "community" effort.
Welcome from down on the coast! We likes large scale hot-rods! Ya got any pics?? I'm building a 1-ton 1953 Peterbilt hot-rod right now. I'm going to post up a build thread here in the next few weeks.
Hey Patrick46, I have a ton of photos on the build site www.1939Cummins.info. I agree a truck is a truck when it has a diesel, and Cummins is Diesel at it's best
Bskustoms, nice avatar pic, if that is you and you were my neighbor I am sure I would know you better already The lady is nice looking as well LOL
