Had a Oliver tractor grill on my '39 Chevy modified p/u. I put it on there, not because it was a tractor grill, but because it was a cool art-deco grill and it fit the car perfect.

Hey Deathtrap maybe take a while and have a read about what this site is about. Not in any way knocking you or your car as I believe each their own, but please understand that this is a TRAD hot rod site so requests like this will recieve responses such as those above. .

Just cuz it fits does not make it right....let alone perfect!?!

carcrazyjohn, if it isn't your cup of tea why ask for it? It is far from fun. There are other sites you can get that kind of fun at....

Remember when people built "hot rods" out of stuff they had layin around or what they found in junk yards or farms, or where ever? These were not "rat" rods but rods that were built out of the need to do something different, something that they cruised in their town and knew that they were driving something that nobody else had. Now we all try to emulate that and call it "Traditional". Not all hot rods are 32 High Boys!

20. I don’t mind putting up a pic or two because that what you asked for, but don’t start a fuss about it being traditional. it will just stir the hornets nest…unless that’s what you are after…which won’t go down well ether. <o></o>

Absolutely but no traditional style rods wore tractor grills.... and this is a trad site. Its that simple. There are many other sites that have a wider audience, this just isnt one.

Oops I just started a pissing comp, sorry guys.

A lot of traditional rods has hoods and fenders too. Don't see that around here much.

i was just browsing through a book "The Ultimate Guide to Hot Rods and Street Rods" and the first page I opened up is a Rat Rod. I don't know why traditionalists don't want to share their knowledge. Many new builders come here (new builders who are broke) and want to learn something. Asking a valid question doesn't deserve a bunch of rude comments. Not everyone has a bank account dedicated to pay someone else to build a hot rod for them. If being broke means you can't be a hot rodder then I guess call me a rat rodder.

If you don't have something nice to say either shut up or give the man some advice on where he can go to get the info he needs.

On that note I don't think you need to be asking who has a tractor grill on their rod on THIS site. Try...

http://ratrodsrule.com

or

http://killbillet.com

The guys over there will be glad to help you out... and plenty of pics of tractor grills.

Ask a question about trad rods, get LOTS of great advice - and so much help.
Ask a question about rat rods get, LOTS of great advice - to go somewhere else.

Its that simple.

How many times do we have to say the same thing. The HAMB is all about traditional style cars. If thats confusing some folks ....

actually, i played around with this idea several years ago. if done right, it look real cool. the problem is, most of the ones people are using are too big, and look like shit. the coolest one i saw was a 40's porche tractor grill. i did these sketches in 02. obviously they were not very practical, and just a rough idea. i did the copper colored one in 06 with a 4 banger. this left a lot more leg room, and is actually pretty do-able.

i guess while there are experts on "traditional" hot rods viewing this thread now is the time to ask. what is the definitive definition of "traditional hot rod"? just so no one needs to look it up: definitive
1. Precisely defined or explicit.
2. Supplying or being a final settlement or decision; conclusive. See Synonyms at decisive.
3. Authoritative and complete: a definitive biography. See Usage Note at definite.
i think it would save a lot of typing if everyone is on the same mental page.
