  2. There is a rust free 544 sitting in a little fenced yard just off Route 395 in Walker, California...just behind the Propane distributor. It has a busted windshield but is straight when I last saw it. If you buy it let me know!!!!

  5. The white and flamed PV built into a coupe is the same car as the black one. It was built by Allan Bergman in the 80's. The red and white slightly chopped PV is a surviving custom from the 60's, the car is a -64 it was brought new and it was chopped in 1965! The original owner still have it (its a local car from my area).

I pass two on the way to work in a guys driveway. One a station wagon and another a sedan. Kinda cool cars. I like the wagon better but I could see some building potential.....

  12. Back in the day, my fourth-grade teacher had a '60 PV444 - this was back around 1969 or so. I thought they were neat cars then, and still do.

Damn near bought an Amazon in 1991, in the Netherlands, when I was stationed in Germany. One of those "shoulda" deals. Buddy, I wish your car was a lot closer, I'd be a serious buyer if it were!

A documentary on TV stated that when the engineers had completed the prototype, the executives spent about 30 minutes looking at it and then approved the styling on the spot. No focus groups or market research at all.

I always liked those, like little shoeboxes. And the Volvo engine isn't bad, they used the same basic design all the way until '91...

It's amazing what pops up on the "New Posts" button sometimes, I never thought there where so many Volvo rods. Here's a pic of my '67 Amazon made into a tudor. It has a GM 3.8 S/C motor out of a '98 Grand Prix GTP, T5 trans and Jag IRS. I've posted it on other threads before. I also have a '64 544 for sale. I installed a '71 E motor with D jetronic injection about 12 years ago. Runs pretty good but needs body work. It's for sale. PM for details.

Zman some ifo on the engines from 47-61
they used the same basic engine B-4b B16
almost a copy of a opel engine. From 62-75
    B-18 B-20 a complete different engine
many things wery similar to a ford FE
    but smaller. Combustion cambers, rockerarms,
    pushrods,even the same oilfilter
after 75 slanted ohc engine B21-B23 the
    crank interchange with the B18-B20
I got a 121 like the black one with
    a B23 instaled
    Alot of useles information......

  26. Not too custom but it was my first ride in HS at 17 back in the day. Its a '59 544 with front and rear bumpers removed leaving only a part of the rear overrider as a nerf bar and a set of baby moons. Pretty much the limit of my skils at the time.

Vans are named 445 and 210, and are framebased.
One of my sons and I want to have something fun to trash around, until our Model A based rods are done.
Furthermore Volvobased "rods" are easier to get approved as roadlegal, and last, it´s "dirtcheap".
We move engine 14" back, and use a model A cab.
One cut down Tudor, and one Fordor.
"Cut down" is not the right expression, they are put together of leftovers :)
One in pic, will run Volvo B18, the other will run a B16.
Both with dual carbs and collectors
Only have this pic, right now:

Now we're at it, the youngest son already have a "Volvorod".
It´s a 210 frame and running gear, with discbrakes up front.
Engine have been hopped up to something like 135 hp.
As can be seen it´s a budgetbuild, but it´s roadlegal and approved.
Only thing I dislike, it the engine sitting to far ahead. Next winter, we´ll move engine and radiator further back, and replace original steering coloum with a rack and pinion.
And yeah thats me poking around, and lookin smart:)

BTW: I hate the term R.. R.., so this one is termed a "Junk Rod".
Its named "Junkeren" thats works in Danish:)
