I got the latest Secrets of Speed magazine, and I was pretty surprised at what ended up on the cover. This is a picture taken at the Jalopy Showdown last May by ratrod37 here on the HAMB(Thanks again for letting them use the picture!). The lady holding her hat (which I think she was just wearing to avoid mud in her hair) is the HAMB's own hotrodladycrusr. Hey it ain't Hot Rod, but I think it's pretty cool.
Got's my respect!!!! Just building it gets mad props, but working it through a corner on that track deserves a Salute!
Good on ya! I was on the cover of a magazine (not car related, it was a band thing), gotta love the second or two where youre looking at it thinking that something is very familiar before you realize it's actually you.. Good stuff
Totally cool because it looks like it might have been taken decades ago. (Till you spot the camera that is............)
The funny thing is that the car only has a stock A driveline in it at the moment. I can get it up to 55, but she starts whining a bit at the high RPM. There's something about driving through a big mud puddle that makes everything seem really fast. I'm STILL cleaning the mud out of that thing. Oh, and if you look at my goggles, I can't see SHIT.
It's a quarterly magazine from the "Secrets of Speed Society". http://www.secretsofspeed.com/SOSS.htm Filled with 4 banger tech, history, and eye candy; this latest issue even has coverage of the Old Crow streamliner, complete with link ot the HAMB.
Wow. That is a cool photo and I'm sure it feels just great to "be on the cover of Rolling Stone" as they say. Gary
Great job, I can't wait to get mine, to read all about it. I can't believe Charlie hasn't talked you into some speed parts for that speedster!
I haven't even taken the head off of it yet, the bottom end is a complete unknown. All I did to get it running was change the oil, and use a wooden dowel and a hammer to "unstick" a valve through a plug hole. Once my father and I rebuild one of the other engines I have laying around, it'll get some assorted speed goodies put on it. My current project is a second speedster. The little blue one will become my dad's and the new one will have a nice new B banger in it, with dual downdrafts, headers, high compression head, counterbalanced crank, and a lightened flywheel. Should be fun running down the highway together.
