Not another falcon "GASSER"

BRICK...i'am on it, intell finished! man you do 1st. class work. and i like the dist. and carb treatment. your going to surprise some folks with that little s.b. ford. the don't have much torque, so your going to need a tall gear, in my view. i had a 513 in my mustang, and it took every bit to beatup on those badass chevy's...POP.

 

Heres the transmission mount. We used flat stock and a carquest rubber mount. We also used the stock crossmember under the floor where the original fordomatic crossmember bolted too. We did punch a hole through it for the shifter but still plent strong. The carquest mount was under 10 dollars and was nice and shallow and worked out great.

Nice build, Were currently finishing up the sheet metal work on a 61 Ranchero gasser build, cant wait to see your end result.

how far did you set the engine back?

 

Were starting to wrap up most of the heavy fab work on the front of the car. major hurdles would probably be steering, headers, and grill. youll see that soon. We finished the radiator mounting pionts and Dan's just about done with the hold down for it and bodyworking the fenders. We welded in the front crossmember and part of the down tubes. The bottom supports for the radiator are juts 16 ga. bent to form caps around the bottom of the tanks. We spot welded them to the top of the frame rail and will set cut out rubber pieces in the cup . Then the upper hold down is aluminum w/ lightning holes that goes over the top of the radiator and will be mounted to the top of the core support when done.

For setting the engine back, i dont have the measurement but ill get ya one. We set it back as far as we could to have room for the water pump and radiator and it got tight fast. theres a good overview pic that shows it best

progress is going slower then we want but steady. Headers and steering next.

That is one bad Swedish ranchero. looks like its ready to eat anything

 

While waiting on some parts we got the seats mounted and main hoop set. down bars and cross bar are tomorrow. seats are out of a mustang and heres my quick sketch for the falcon guys if they like the hoop. start at the CL and work out each line is the beginning of the bend. O and a few speed parts.

Good progress. But you may be having a setback....... the carb mounting plate on your intake is all twisted and stuff

roll bar is welded for the most part and the seat spacer made to sit level.

I have a 454 chevy with fenderwell headers sitting far too close to my 62 ranchero in my garage and it is starting to talk to me. this can't be a good thing. hahaha

Started on the headers. i slightly cheated and started with headers i got at a pick n pull off a 302 and chopped em up and started with the flanges and tubes allready to go

 

cool, im about to do my headers,, this helps out some,

 

right on its looking pretty wicked so far, I to have a falcon gasser, in hawaii

 

bricktop, thanks for sharing, what did you use for radiator. and what diameter &thickness are your engine compartment support bars (frame to firewall).


slamit, i have one also, but thinking I am going with a sbc since i have it ready to go.. but would not mind finding a cheap 5.0 motor/ trans around here instead

 

gonz i can only imagine what its like to drive your car on the island, lucky me winter is a time to get stuff done cause i would be driving more than finishing my projects otherwise.

boones the radiator is i wanna say an allstar roundy round radiator, the smallest and best bang for the buck, and the front bars would be 1 5/8" .120" wall
