Just got a 1930 Model-A it needs a little work but will be on the road in the springs. What would you change!
I would get rid of the blue flames, and all of the other blue paint, paint the wishbones, firewall, etc., black Get rid of the things on the decklid, boat tie downs? Bob the rear fendors a little, maybe? Get rid of the antenna. Put a hood and sides on it. Full the holes in the fender skirts. Change tires and wheels. Lower it a bit in the back. ,
Other than paint,I don't think I would change anything.Maybe make the engine look more powerful with more carbs or a blower.Just work the bugs out of it and go.
Drive the crap outta' it this year and make whatever changes you decide next winter. Definitely tuck those back tires in though.........
Fender skirts? Those are runningboard splash aprons. The rumble seat grab handles are stock Model A Ford parts.
The car pretty darn nice as is but you could , after driving it for some time, like years: Put an actual paint job, glossy, on the car without the blue whisper flames and stripes. Add a hood to conceal the odd very low and far back placement of the engine. Nothing to worry about but not pretty. Get some early 5-spoke mags rather than those Boydy looking wheels and if possible with offset enough to tuck the rear tires under the fenders. For sure, replace that garage door donkey dick rumble seat handle with a stock one. And enjoy the heck out of it!
Drop the back 2 inches,, change to model A headlights with modern halogen internals, bob the rear fenders, change to ford steelies with '40 caps and most definetely run a louvered hood...I'd check why they sat the engine so damn low in the chassis too...may need fixin..
Thanks to all. It was just delivered at 8:00 AM. today! I will start this weekend with the review process. I do plan on a hood different steel wheels and wide white tires maybe before spring. And yes I think all the blue will be changed
Just checked the axle and steering are lower than the oil pan. I think the engine is setting about two inches to far back. But I do not want a show car. Primer is the right color for my, The interior does need work it has oak dash. I ordered a steel 32 dash for now in the future maybe 40 or something kool.
The fluids and filters. Maybe the wheels and tires. Oh, and the fact that you don't currently drive the piss out of it, and everywhere you go.
