Hot Rods My first barn find

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by grits, Jan 11, 2010.

  1. A good friend of mine told me of an old gent that needed to get rid of a few things, so Eric and I go out there Saturday morning to pick up some things I mentioned I'd like to have. The barns or building were full of stuff, some good some not so.
I originally wanted some of the axles and wish bones I had seen on my first visit. There was an old box trailer that had all kind of stuff in it but was to dark to see in it, well Saturday while Eric and I were looking through it, the old man runs a cord out and plugs in the lights. As I looked back at Eric, his eyes were lit up like a kid in a candy store. We start pulling stuff out and laying it on the ground to get a better look, all the while I felt kinda weird going through the dudes stuff, occasionally the old man would say he wanted to keep this and that.
Long story short here are a few pics of some of the things I picked up.

Just about all of this stuff will go in the classifieds, As soon as I can sort it all out.

I've got a pair of those Model A 21" wheels converted to 16". Got 'em in a junkyard in Denison TX about 30 years ago.

Hydraulic backing plates are always a money maker as well as that really nice pedal assembly after you find out whether it is a 40 or 41-48.

    Great haul.

  26. Rich, I paid him what he was asking - a few nickles, I didn't haggle much at all, But he did throw in a couple hood ornaments I wanted for my collection.
He is a super nice guy and I wanted to be able to go back there again.:)

I wasn't really impressed with the front axles and other stuff he had in the barns....then we went in the trailer and knew we'd struck oil. There were a few treasures he didn't want to turn loose of, but we got most of it. I finally found my '33 5-window project too!
