RIP HAMBers

Discussion in 'Questions & Suggestions' started by adjustablejohnsons, Jan 10, 2010.

  1. I see a post started by Junkyard Jan is on the first page today, and I started to wonder how many of our members have passed away. I think it is nice that their posts are still active and getting responses.

Maybe we could come up with a "memorial" list..

    I know about

    Junkyard Jan
    C9

I hope this is a good idea. I know there are many concepts and sentiments about death, and if the consensus says this is not something we should do..I understand.

I think this is a good idea . I belong to a steam & gas engine club. Every year at the anual show the names of the members that had passed away the past year are remembered before the opening parade. Sorry to hijack . Rip HAMBers

Many, many well respected and loved HAMB members have passed. There could be a section on the main page right under birthdays with the names of HAMB members that have passed. Their names would be a link to their profiles where one could go and link to their threads and posts.

    Weekender.....RIP

IMO..this should go up at the top as a sticky, then it could be added to throughout the year. It would be a whole lot easier to keep track of.

When a person does make a post about a H.A.M.B'er passing on, then the dates would be kept in a asending order for the year.

Denise, your idea would be good too.

  21. I think this is a good idea. It's always appropriate to honor the memory of people who have been an active part of the HAMB community. It's akin to what we do at church on All Saints Day.

my friend kevin murphy died a year ago this month, he was mainly a lurker, but would have been a valuable member if he had gotten the hang of the computer...

What about a H.A.M.B. Memorial Trophy given to the winner each year at the H.A.M.B. Drags, or something similar.

I would like to see a sticky memorial thread too.

I'll add Stovebolt48 and Hotroddtodd, RIP.

I actually didn't know about C9 until this thread.

I second the sticky memorial or maybe a group....we could call it HAMB HEAVEN...this subject bums me out but I think it's cool that we can keep members memories alive and pay tribute to fellow HAMBers. Geez we're tighter than the freemasons

I think it is a good idea for the HAMB to have a running list of those who pass on.

I also wonder if some we might not hear about - the lone wolves whose families might not even know about the HAMB, or even they did how to log on or, indeed, that the folks on this forum are as tight as they are.
