I did a quick search on this and came up with nothing. I just bought an old Mallory dual point for my 370 Pontiac and would love to convert it to electronic ign. I upgraded my last 55 ford 272 with a pertronix unit and loved it. Anybody have any words of wisdom on this topic? Contact points mounting Screw holes appear to be 1.75" apart and it has dual points with a 4 lobe cam.
Sorry can't help but I just found out GMCBubba is a Pertronix dealer. Dual pickups on the 4 lobe? Ha Ha.
Yes we (PerTronix) do conversion for old Mallory Dual Point Distributors. You just need to knoe the series number of the dist (ie; YL, YC, YD, 23, 24, rev pol etc) and Yes Bubba is a dealer for us and can help you out.
Yep they make a kit for the 4 lobe YC units. I usually polish up the old condensors and hook it up ( with no lead inside) and the pertronixs unit inside with wires coming out the other side with black shrink wrap to the coil. Looks great. Cleaned, curved and shipped back to ya $192...
That's a good deal! Now Bubba, do you have a 1957 T Bird 312 (non Load a Matic) distributor I can buy from you? Don
can you just get the pertronix units seperately and DIY? got a dual mallory i would like to do this to for my SBC
I just received a Mallory/Pertronix from Bubba for my flatty. Great lookin' unit, good price, fast shipping and he sent me a free bottle of hot sauce! Thanks Jim!
Just installed a Ignitor III in an old Mallory dual point dist in my sbf. I really like it so far but only have 2-3 k miles on it. Starts good ,runs good ,if it lasts I'll be happy.
The pertronix in my coupe crapped out before Christmas. Survived almost three years. I'm going to be switching back to points to trigger my hyfire box.
Received my pertronix equipped malory dual point from Bubba's hot rod shop a few days ago. If it works as good as it looks, I should be in the 9's, no problem
