I've been searching for a new sending unit for my '63 Valiant and found two options.

    Option 1:http://http://www.classiccarautoparts.com/gastank_sending_units.html
It says there are two lines. What is the second line for? (Can you tell I'm a novice?) :)

Option 2 is another sending unit that has 1 line....

    Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Would it be safe to guess that this is the Fuel Gauge sending unit, that goes in the tank?

Will do. Goodbye crappy sediment and not being able to tell how much gas is in the tank.

    Hey I have the same question...for a 1964.

I had not even done a Google search yet, but I new there might not be a new one made...obsure model of wagon. Hoep there is...

WIll look, but that link you gave in the beginning...no such company.

And I removed the, "...ing units", of course.

    www.classiccarautopart.com Nope.

Where'd you find one on a site that doen't even come up?

hey guys, i got my sending unit from laysons restorations. i went with the 3/8" sending unit in case i ever go with a big block. i also have a new gas tank and all new fuel line from the tank to the carb. and my gauge works intermittently. there is a fix for that though. what happens is the voltage limiter for the gauges (which is located in the fuel gauge on these early a-bodies) go out. there is a company that sells a solid state voltage limiter that will fix the problem. they show you how to get rid of your old one and wire up theirs.
    here is their link:

    or you can do this:

    hope this helps.

single units are usually for non ac cars, and yes they are a return or bypass type vent.
